COREL 2019 EXPORT SHAPE DISABLED

Hello,

Am trying to install some new preset shapes and ive followed all the instructions in the manual ie:

1. Select picture/files/export....

But the word "export" is disabled?? pic attached.

Any ideas please anybody, your hlp would be most appreciated.

Is your shape on a Vector layer? Exported shapes must be vector objects.

No it wasnt.

So now I have opened the .png picture
Clicked on New Vector Layer
Export/Shape is now enabled
Exported Shape to Library ok

I closed the programme down and reopened its not showing in the presets with other deafult ones.

Sorry... obviously only a newbie at this.

I do aologise for yet another message but as these have to be moderated my earlier replies do not yet show, so I cannot edit them.

OK so ive saved the file successfully and I can see the new one I made in my Corel 2019/Presets folder but by itself.
I can only find the default files under the Programme Data folders/corel/2019/ (each file has its own folder) and file
in the same name Corel_11_003.pspshape, Corel_11_ 004.pspshape etc.

My new files are not showing up on the drop down menu in the opened programme with the other default: Arrows, Callouts, Bursts & Heart.

I read in the instructions and utube that files didn't have to go into the Programme Data files as their location is correct already in the Corel2019/Preset folder.

I would appreciate your help some more please.

The problem is in how you initially saved your shape. To really give it a unique name, you must open the shape's Vector layer, and change the name of the New Path layer to the name you want to give your shape (see my example). If you don't do that, then any shape you save will be remembered by Paint Shop Pro as 'New Path'.

I suggest that you delete the shapes that you have saved thus far, and save them again by renaming the 'New Path' layer. Proceed then as you originally did, by naming them as you did initially in the 'Export Shape' box.

PNGs are raster images and PSP does not have a tool for converting raster images into vectors. To convert your PNG into a vector you either need to manually trace the image using PSP's vector tools. Or use another program to convert the shape to a vector and then convert that to a format PSP recognizes like WMF or EMF. Open it then convert to preset shape.

I actually have an option for this but I am getting gas and will be on the road most of the day. So I can't offer it right now.

Inkscape is a vector program. It can export png's, but otherwise works only in vectors. I used to create or modify vector shapes as icons, export them as png's to finish in the PSP of the day. I wonder if OP could make shapes in Inkscape that she could pick up in PSP?

BTW -- Inkscape is open source and free.

If Inkscape can export WMF or EMF then yes that is an option. I also have a script that can read the output of a specific raster tracing program. The same one Inkscape uses in fact.

I've havent gotten any further today but have pritned all this out to have another go and
have learned alot in the last 2 days.
