So I started to make a series of videos with VideoStudio Pro 2019, recently purchased.
I made one, saved, exported, then saved project as another name, changed some videos & overlays, exported & saved again..
I repeated this process without closing video studio, over the span of a few days.
eventually, windows needed to restart. today i went to make the next video in the series. I opened video studio and tried to open my saved project..
no errors, nothing in the timeline, jand no name/video settings in top right corner.. WTF??
i tried to open multiple projects, all to the same result..
i was getting super pissed..
upon looking for an answer to WTF? i noticed i had clicked my icon for VideoStudio X10, not 2019.. I closed out X10 and opened 2019 and was able to open my files properly..

perhaps a warning or notification or automatic uninstall option for previous versions would save people a lot of getting super pissed off.. maybe even just updating existing shortcuts to reflect the new version?
project VSP files unusable.. wtf??

I take your point about warning people. I expect it might only be long time users of VS who would know that one unchanging element in successive versions is that you can open earlier projects in later versions of VS. However, earlier versions cannot open later version projects unless they are saved in the earlier version format. And that only goes up to 3 versions back.

Re: project VSP files unusable.. wtf??
Thankfully most users know that a newer version of software adds features that are not supported by older versions of the software, e.g. the MS Word file format has changed many times and so one can't open the newer format in a legacy version of the software. In short, there is some obligation for a computer user to understand basic compatibility issues of software. In my experience, the ability of VS to keep older versions of the VS software installed and available is a big plus and not a negative at all.chieftaco wrote:perhaps a warning or notification or automatic uninstall option for previous versions would save people a lot of getting super pissed off.. maybe even just updating existing shortcuts to reflect the new version?
Too bad you had to use a well-known profanity in your posting as it adds nothing positive to your posting or to this forum.chieftaco wrote:upon looking for an answer to WTF?
