Edit mode not working

When I am editing/trimming a clip I used to be able to highlight a clip in storyboard view and then move the srubber along the timeline and the clip would play the in the preview box. But now it doesn't do that anymore and I'm not sure why? In project mode it does play the scenes in the preview panel but not when I'm in clip mode.

I just recreated a new project (VSP) file using the same clips and the scrubber is behaving normally i.e. it does play back the clip in the preview panel in edit mode. So is the issue that the original VSP file was corrupt or some other technical issue?

I collected also similar experiences with VS2018 ( Corel level2 support is alread involved). The VS during editing somehow loses some features what at a new start or few days later work again as expected. I have already a nice list of features what I collected with VS2018. The problem is that sometimes when I want to present the issue it is working, some times later it is not. In my case I had a problem with the audio editor, with the 3D title, recently with the filter settings and one of the newest one, the selected clip cannot be adjusted by the [ ] brackets or by scissor, but I can adjust the length with the mouse on the time line. All these things happens fully randomly during the editing.
