Unable to load file

In my experience with PhotoImpact, (versions 5 through 10) I have occasionnally experienced one especially troubling error. After applying multiple effects to an image, saved in .jpg format, I receive the following when trying to reload the picture..

Unable to load file : c:\directory\filename.jpg.

Can someone provide me with some insight into the cause of this error?

Unable to load file : c:\directory\filename.jpg.

It is entirely posssible that the file has been corrupted when it was being saved and, rather than the ".jpg" extension, has been given the inexplicable ".#$#"

Check the file in Windows Explorer and simply rename it to "filename.jpg"
