I just installed a MS update, August 30, 2019—KB4512941 (OS Build 18362.329) to be specific last night and now VS X10 crashes as soon as I add Colour Fixer Plus to the MP4 video loaded into my timeline. I realise that this is a pretty new MS update and not everyone will have it so I don't expect any solutions here, it's just a heads up. I'm going to play around and see what else doesn't work now!

Thanks for the heads up.

Re: VS X10 Crashing
Found the fix for me. Before this latest update, I used to take a video file from my camera, load it into VS, edit it, add effects and so on, then render it, et voila! That was it. What I've discovered is that I can take a video file from my camera, load it into VS and then render it into a new file. I can edit, add effects and so to this new file without any problem. It's just the original file that makes VS crash, although it didn't before. This may be a solution if anyone else experiences problems.

Re: VS X10 Crashing
Does this happen with every file from your camera? What are the properties of the file from the camera and waht are the properties of the rendered file?

Re: VS X10 Crashing
The video appears to be using MP42 codec
I had not heard of this so did a google which seems to indicate being one of the original MP4 ( Version2 ) and used before MP4 was standardised
Not sure how true that may be.
The fix was to convert the video file to another video file, of course MP4 H264 would do which I believe you also found as a fix.
Mpeg-4 was originally developed from Mov, one trick would be to rename the video files extension to use Mov, works sometimes……….
Corel knowledge base does recommend installing the codec pack K-Lite when having issues with HD video
You could try that, at least It may avoid the video conversions?

Re: VS X10 Crashing
I have K-Lite installed. Like I said, it only happened after installing the latest update so maybe MS have reassigned a different codec or something. It's fixed for me now but if other people encounter the problem, they know what it is now.
