Delete Additional File Locations from Registry

Post by Eugbug »

Since Windows updated on my system, PSP makes folders for brushes, tubes etc on my desktop. Deleting these folders from "File locations" in preferences and saving, doesn't rectify the problem. Will deleting all the DirName2, DirName3 and DirName4 keys from the registry rectify this issue? Has anyone tried doing this? I don't really want to reset PSB to the default install state because of the hassle of having to customise all the toolbar buttons again.

PSP7 -- under the File item on the main menu -- has a selection for Workspace. You can save your current workspace. Best you save it as a named workspace. Look to see where the program is saving the file and write that down. Close PSP7, find the file and copy it to your desktop. You can safely reset the app to the default state because you can retrieve your saved workspace. I only had you copy it to the desktop in case you uninstall PSP. That way you always have your customizations.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

I'm trying to reset PSP by pressing CTRL and ALT immediately after launching it, but this doesn't appear to work.

You need to hold those keys down while launching PSP; not after you launch it. See if that makes the difference.

When I hold down both keys when launching, it just shows the properties dialog, with no option to reset anything.

The properties dialog appeared when I double clicked my desktop icon for PSP with CTRL & ALT held down. So I tried running the application from the menu instead with the keys held and that worked fine. I deleted the registry settings and loaded my old workspace settings and it's back to normal now.
