Control size of sliders
Nice trick. Too bad it is not obvious that it is there. The large slider is also hard to use. Corel does offer a better slider:Jean-Luc wrote:You may also enter the value with the keyboard.ehume wrote:Need to fix adjustment sliders.

Sliders behaviour is not consistent in the program. We must live with it...ehume wrote: Nice trick. Too bad it is not obvious that it is there.

Re: Control size of sliders
That's true; we do. But should we? What I have been saying is that we are all getting old. Back when I was middle-aged, I tried to convince the young programmers at what became Firefox that we needed to address these issues. I developed Aeon Big and Aeon Jumbo to try to address these issues. Now with PSP, we have sliders that are too small. Have you seen how small the sliders are for transitioning layer to layer? (This avoids the issue of incomplete Help, which is a whole other topic.)Jean-Luc wrote:Sliders behaviour is not consistent in the program. We must live with it...ehume wrote: Nice trick. Then there is the fact that PSP is looking at screens with higher pixel count. Already we are seeing 4k displays (e.g -- Ken has a 3840x2160px screen), soon to go to 8k (7680 pixels wide).
If the devs address these visibility/usability issues now, they can advertise this in many upcoming PSP versions. Heck, it will make buying PSP worthwhile. That's the whole point of putting this issue on the Wishlist.

Re: Control size of sliders
I agree that the method of making this slider appear is definitely clunky, particularly because there is no indication that clicking on the black arrow will make the slider appear. Why they had to hide it is another of those mysterious working of the minds of Corel programmers, and wouldn't make sense to any right thinking individual IMHO.
Once you know that it's there, however, it's not that hard to use. But you have to keep your mouse button depressed when clicking on the black arrow and dragging your mouse down to the slider before releasing the mouse button.

Re: Control size of sliders
Tool options palette. I imagine that's why.
Or specifically wanting to have a slider in a compact space. Like you said. Pixel density is getting higher, which means they used to have less real estate. Combining a number/scroll box with a slider was actually a really good idea at the time.
It allows for a whole lot more options on the tool palette to fit together nicely. Heck even as more space has appeared they still made a side drawer to handle all of the options on the text tool.
But in many dialog boxes it really makes no sense other.

True, but that's that's two things you have to learn that are specific to PSP.JoeB wrote:I agree that the method of making this slider appear is definitely clunky, particularly because there is no indication that clicking on the black arrow will make the slider appear. It does not address the issue of increasing pixel counts in displays. Increasing pixel counts will effectively shrink the size of that slider box. Just going from 2k (1920x1080) to 8k (7680x4320) will shrink the effective size of that box to 25% of the 2k size -- and many people are not up to 2k yet.
