Issue with text

Post by Shazza »

Hi all,
I am running into an issue with text that I wonder if anyone else is having. This only happens when I use PSP 2019. If I use the text tool, set my size it is fine the first time or two, but when I to back and use it again with the same font and not changing any setting, the text gets smaller and smaller each time to use the text tool. None of the text sizes work and it ends up being tiny and I just have to to use the deform tool to make it the size I want.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

With the Text tool active Click on the Presets and to the right second button down click on Reset to default and see if that makes any difference.

I tried resetting, still the same thing. An example just tonight, I used a pixel font size 8 pt, after saving I selected the text tool again, it set itself to 1. I chose another font, I tried to use 48 but it set itself at 7. Then I chose 96, it set itself at 23. It does things like this no matter what font I use or size I choose or whether's it's points or pixels.

You might have luck resetting PSP to default. Here are the instructions and even though they reference X6 they work for all versions. This resets the entire application; not just the text tool.

PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed

For the record and anyone researching this, I've been having the same problem on two computers.
Thank you, Kathy, for the reset instructions. I tried it on 1 computer and have not gotten to the other yet.

My findings:

1.Resetting Text as hartpaul suggested to default did not help.
2.Resetting via Preferences has one of the recommended settings to check greyed out, so I had to omit that one.
psp.PNG
That option didn't work.

3. I ended up resetting using Option 2 in the reset instructions. Going through all my Preferences and settings was very time consuming when in the middle of a graphics design project, but the font/text sizes work again (sort of). They are not at all like the sizes I've used since PSP 2018 was new, so I'll have to adjust all my notes that I save for the fonts on images. This problem affected default Windows fonts and custom fonts.

Questions:
Why did this happen?
What are the pros and cons of doing a reset like this as opposed to completely reinstalling PSP?
