Since posting this I deleted the project and started it again. The new one is working fine. Must have been something corrupted in the initial attempt.
Video Studio Pro Ultimate 2018.
I've just started using this version and find that whenever I try to use the Auto Music in installs on the music track find but as soon as I try to play the video the music resizes itself to about a 2 second clip.
I've checked the Auto Trim.
Any idea why? None of the previous versions did this on my laptop. I'd like to update to the latest version but am loathe to do so until I can get this figured out.

change the default duration
Or grab the end of the clip and drag to required length

Re: Why Do Music Files Always Clip Too Short
Nope, unfortunately that didn't help. Just keeps shortening as soon as I click off the track.
I just tried something else. It seems that, perhaps there was something corrupt in the project so I'm going to start over.

Re: Why Do Music Files Always Clip Too Short
Uncheck Auto Trim, with auto trim checked the music clip should be the same length as the video clip

I've tried that as well. I think something is corrupt in the project so I'm going to delete it and start again.RobertOZ wrote:Uncheck Auto Trim, with auto trim checked the music clip should be the same length as the video clip
Thanks.

Re: Why Do Music Files Always Clip Too Short
Lets try a test,
Place sample clip SP-V01 in the timeline, this clip is 6 seconds long
Select Auto Music
choose a track
Uncheck Auto trim
Add to timeline
The music track should be the same length as the set duration ( in my case 15 seconds)
Now delete music track
check Auto Trim
Add music to timeline
The music track is now the same length as the sample (6 seconds)
If you are not getting these results, then you have a corrupt installation and should consider reinstalling VS2018

Thanks, RobertOZ
I've reinstalled VS2018 and edited my previous posts to indicate I deleted the first project and re-did it. All is well now. I don't know how to mark this thread as solved?

Re: Why Do Music Files Always Clip Too Short
I've come across this issue as well and what I found when this happens is if I have used the same clip and/or audio clip in a previous project and you had trimmed the previous version for time, like cutting off some junk at the front or at the end etc... when you re-use that piece the next time it will match the previous version & load any edits done to it prior. I usually just delete it from the library or copy/paste the original file & rename it prior to importing it into VS again...
