Free Trial Addons

Post by OldNick »

I am trialing PSP 2020 (I thought I grabbed Ultimate....if I have and the answer to my questions below is "No.Yes, and Can't" then I would rather not re-download the several hundred MB to find that fact out  ). I can't work out how to try the addons that are bundled, to see if they will trigger a purchase.

Are they included in the Ultimate trial? Can I actually download the Ultimate trial? If I have, how do I use them, please?

Thanks for any help.

I think the links to the add ons come with the email confirming purchase. The trial is just that, a trial of PSP.
However you might check out the websites for the extras as they may be stand alone and you may also be able to trial them.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

hm...OK. I have a bad history with these bundled bits, here and with a couple of other media programmes...they are often ONLY trials or are shills ("lite" versions), crippled to the point of ridiculous simplicity.

If the PSP trial is only that, with no demo of the bundle, then it annoys me: I really need to know if the addons are worth anything. Unless the addons are the same thing as offered from their "native" website, I cannot judge and will walk away.

If PSP and other such programmes cannot provide enough new stuff (apart from "interfaces" as distinct from functionality) without adding what are basically advertisements, that is sad and turns me away.

Sorry. Needed to say that. Not your fault. :|

The Paintshop Pro trial version is only the 64bit version and is time limited but is not crippled - i.e., it has all of the features of the retail version. However, except for the Creative Collection which are simply extra brushes, tubes, etc., all of the actual programs included with the Ultimate versions of PSP - and those can be different ones depending on your PSP version (things like Painter, Aftershot, Perfectly Clear, etc), are the Express versions, not the Pro versions, so don't usually have all of the features that the Pro versions would have. Most of them seem to work fine for many people as they are, but if you are expecting the Pro versions available from their creators you won't get that bundled with any PSP Ultimate version.

I cannot comment on anything about what Painter does, but my experiences with Aftershot and Perfectly Clear 3 SE have not shown me any disabilities. Aftershot Pro came with an earlier version of PSP Ultimate, and you can download Perfectly Clear 3 Free from Athentech's website. Honestly, I prefer the PC 3SE plugin to the PC 3 plugin. I prefer the UI.

It may be the PC 3.5SE offers more than PC 3SE, and if so, PSP 2020 Ultimate is a better deal than PSP 2020 non-Ultimate: PC is a nice plugin to have. I use SP for my raw, so I have not used AS enough to say if it is a worthwhile member of the bundle.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

Thanks for the reply.

No I was not really expecting the Pro versions. But I have had some stuff that came with demo bundles that were risible in their almost uselessness.

I'm not quite sure here. Are you saying that the trial Version does not have any of the bundled stuff? That is my main problem (well...others may disagree :D).

If they are part of the trial, how do I find them?

They are not part of the trial. Just bonuses for buying the bundle. The trial is only for PSP itself.

OK. Thanks guys! I think I will sit on this round.

I went to Athentech's site and was offered PC "free" for all time (obviously an limited version). But when I hit the download button, I was handed an Appmanager, that kept trying to make me buy. :(

I had actually tried PC and for me it was OK, but I have plenty of similar stuff.

I managed to install the free version -- the Apps Manager loads it, even though it appears to be on a Buy tab. And it installed, as I requested, both as a stand-alone program and as a plug-in PSP 2020. But I have to say it is heavily crippled, with most of it showing padlocks to indicate you can only access those functions if you buy the full version... I'll stick with Perfectly Clear 3.5 SE in PSP 2019 if I can manage to get it working in PSP 2020.

EDIT: I've now uninstalled both the supposedly "Complete" free version of Perfectly Clear and the Apps Manager.

OK. Thanks. Makes me feel better to know I was not just blundering. I found the way it operated quite off-putting

There is always a 32-bit trial version available as well, just not very obvious.
I usually download a 32-bit trial on a 32-bit laptop, I keep for PSP purposes only.
You can download the 32-bit trial here: http://dwnld.paintshoppro.com/trials/ps ... _32bit.exe
Comes as is. Just PSP. Bloat (addons)ware is part of the purchase.
Have a good read about what comes with the Ultimate 2020: https://www.paintshoppro.com/en/product ... =mod-corel
Half of it came with 2019, one is not PSP related and only free for the first year after handing in your personal and financial details, another one a souped up version of an earlier addon and the creative collection, so aptly described by JoeB.
