ehume you fixed it, thank you! I started thinking about your suggestion of trying different combinations in regedit and decided to try a couple more. Well that did it, I found a couple of leftovers of pic to painting and removed them and gosh golly halleluha that was the ticket. It is now successfully installed and I am back in business. This has been driving me nuts and I am extremely grateful for your help.
Joe B, my thanks for responding and trying to help, it was greatly appreciated.

You are most welcome. For future people with problems, what search term was successful in Regedit?
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

Re: Pic to painting installation error 1316 Please Help
I too had problems getting Pic-to-Painting v1.1 to install. I had it with PSP2019 but the upgrade wouldn't install when I updated to PSP2020. Initially I wimped out and pointed the PSP2020 plug-ins to include the ones for Pic-to-Paint (V1.0) from PSP2019.
After the recent update to PSP2020 I thought I would give it another go. Still no luck so I contacted Corel support.
The advice was to completely remove PSP, run the clean-up process (given a link to files) and then re-install both 32 and 64 bit versions. This didn't help despite the time it takes!
In the end I found there was an app "Pic-to-Painting.exe" sitting in Program Files (x86). Using Windows Settings/Apps to remove it allowed the new version to install.
It hasn't given we warm feelings about the help desk.

Corel "support" seems to always tell people to do complete uninstall/reinstall as the solution to virtually any issue that is brought to their attention. It would seem that their training manual is somewhat less than one page in length from all of the comments like yours that I have seen in this forum over the years.

Re: Pic to painting installation error 1316 Please Help
Joe,
1.Did you rule out using PSP 2020? If so why?
2. I just got a slew of s/w from a HumbleBundle website. One such item was PSP 2020u. I viewed https://www.paintshoppro.com/static/psp ... rix-en.pdf and 2020U looks like an improvement over 2019u that actually works for me. If pleased I will uninstall 2019.
3. Did Corel, in fact, improve Pic-To-Painting processing speed as they stated at the above link? Or version 1.1, with Tensorflow 1.5 that I needed, that you so kindly helped get to work in W7 for me is the latest?
4. If I install 2020, will It overwrite my Pic-To-Painting folder requiring me to change tensorflow? Maybe I should rename the PTP folder before installing 2020u?
5. I'm also thinking I will need to renter existing plugin folders and a product that I export to. Am I correct? I do not have other workspaces.
I’m safe trying 2020 because I just took an Acronis image of my C drive preparing for this test of 2020 but looking for your comments and that of Levi and Key Berry although Ken commented in another post.

Re: Pic to painting installation error 1316 Please Help
I'm back! I just tried PSP 2020U side by side with my fully installed PSP 2019U. I did not see any revelation that would have me fully uninstall my PSP2019U then install and 2020U and add any/all scripts, etc that I had acquired since starting with 2018U then on to 2019U.
I admit that I did not compare everything. One thing I did not like was I could not get Perfectly Clear to run from 2020. I'll bet there is a post that explains how to do that? Would like to know if ever I do an about face and install 2020 intending to run with it for real... but why when 2019U works for me?
What I liked the most was GFRX. I could see me using it. So, I installed it my 2019U (accessed as a plug-in and independently) and licensed it (came with the PSP2020U in my Humble Bundle s/w purchase).

I have read about a Refine Selection in PSP 2020 that sounds good.

I've only recently acquired and installed Perfectly Clear stand-alone and plug-in, full version, to my PSP 2020. Like you, I've spent ages -- really, ages, over many days! -- trying to get the VS 2019 plug-in to work in 2020, but never had any success. And I just had a revelation with the rather expensive Perfectly Clear I just bought... And that is that Athentech, the company that made Perfectly Clear and had a contractual arrangement with Corel in PSP, has been sold to a new company called EyeQ. And pretty obviously, they don't have such an arrangement with Corel -- at least not yet! So to me at least, it seems logical that the new version of PSP i.e. PSP 2020, has had its code changed not to accept previous (Athentech) versions of the filter. Can't explain how or why it was done, but it still seems a pretty obvious explanation.iraisok wrote:One thing I did not like was I could not get Perfectly Clear to run from 2020. I'm happy to have the new full version (said to be version 3.9), and I have since then bought also a package containing a number of other presets used by Perfectly Clear. But at the end of the day, the cost of all this is probably a bit more than the cost of PSP by itself...
So if you want to use the Perfectly Clear filter in its cut-down version with anything, you would need to apply it in VS 2019 or 2018, then save the affected image, then if more is required, reopen that image in VS 2020 for further work using the VS 2020 filters...

Re: Pic to painting installation error 1316 Please Help
Ken, Joe, Levi and others,
Ken - tnx for your reply.
To all: I do my experimenting in a Win 10 Pro VMWare VM that I always restore via an Acronis image when finished testing s/w.
PSP2020U evaluation completed ... (as far as things that concern me)
1. I could not get Perfectly Clear 3.5 to work. No surprise.
2. Joe - Picture-To-Painting is the same, same folder/file set, as in 2019U. Experienced exactly the same issues I did in PSP2019U until you created the workaround that works perfectly! When I changed from TensorFlow 1.7 to 1.5 2020U PTP worked for me. I know some other users do not have any issues with PTP as installed. I also had to change to your PicToPainting Slider V3 update to stop slider from jumping to max when first previewing a picture overlay.
3. I will remain with PSP2019U. with GRFX plugin and standalone), replaced Photo Mirage Express with the full version of Corel PhotoMirage, replaced Corel Painter Essentials 6 with Corel Painter 2019 (adding a PSP2019 script to open a layer in CP, editing there then back to 2019 in a new layer) that each came with my Humble Bundle purchase. I already had PhotoZoom Pro 7.8 and Topaz ReMask. I value Perfectly Clear 3.5 more than any purported improvement in 2020U. So, I will continue to run with PSP2019U as described. Works for me.
