Pic to painting installation error 1316 Please Help
Please help, I have wasted more hours than I care to count on this. I am trying to re-install Pic To painting after reinstalling PSP19. I have both 32 and64bit versions installed. The program had been working perfectly but I was having memory issues with Psp 19 Ultimate, which I have now solved but now I cannot get pic to painting to reinstall no matter what I try. The error message says:the account already exist and mentions error 1316. I have spent another afternoon today trying to solve this and I am done. Can anyone help me figure this out please? I saved the error log but it is several miles long and I think I'm only exaggerating a little.
please help before I pull out the rest of my hair. Thank you.

Have you looked on the C drive? Sometimes, when one has lost shortcuts to an app, going to C:\Program Files can help. In this case, C:\Program Files\Corel.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

Re: Pic to painting installation error 1316 Please Help
Thank you for responding. I have been through the c drive, the d drive, I have been through the registry, I have used the Corel cleanup tool which is very handy. Right now I am deep into the registry and found three little pieces but they're buried so deep I can't delete them. goshdarnit.
C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Temp\{3D322053-D368-4FBC-B740-A0B73E42D23C}\Pic-to-Painting.msi
there's three of those and I am trying to trace the path but I'll bet I can't delete them manually. So frustrated

Maybe you should talk with Corel.

Re: Pic to painting installation error 1316 Please Help
From what I can find, error 1316 is apparently some sort of windows installation error but nothing I have tried has been able to fix it. I use Pic to Painting for a specific project and I'm at my wits end here.

It is interesting that there is no forum dedicated to it.

Re: Pic to painting installation error 1316 Please Help
Did you install both the 32bit version and 64bit version of PSP, or just the 64bit version? In another thread where a user got a different error when trying to install Pic-To-Painting it was found that both versions of PSP should be installed to allow proper installation of the plugin. In case it helps, here's the link to that thread, even though it was a different error being thrown:

Hi sooz
I assume you have installed P to P in the past?
Although P to P is a plugin as far as I know installs as a separate program, so uninstalling PSP should not remove P to P.
If you view Program and Features is P to P listed, if so try uninstalling and re-installing?

Re: Pic to painting installation error 1316 Please Help
While Pic-To-Painting installs as a separate program (in the Program Files folder, not Program Files x86), it installs the .8bf plugin into the PSP Plugins>EN folders of both the 32bit and 64bit versions of PSP. And while Pic-To-Painting can be opened using the .exe file present in its own Program Files folder I don't believe that it can be used as a standalone because I don't believe there is a way to open your own images in the program if you open it using just its .exe file. It seems to only work properly as a plugin. So even if she has it installed, she will still need the .8bf files to be able to open it as a plugin in PSP.lata wrote:Hi sooz

If, in fact, she does have the program still installed but is only missing the .8bf files, then I can't see any reason why we couldn't provide the .8bf files for her because the fact that the program itself is installed is proof that she has a legitimate right to the program. Just a thought.

Re: Pic to painting installation error 1316 Please Help
Bless you for responding Joe B. I do have both versions installed, 32 and 64. I did indeed purchase the program through Corel directly. The P to P program worked perfectly before and as I said, I had uninstalled PSP 19 Ultimate because I was having problems with memory usage, I fixed that problem but when I reinstalled the program, started having this persistent error. It says error 1316 the program already exists. I have done everything I can to make sure it was a clean uninstall before reinstalling but to no avail. I would so appreciate any help you can give, thank you.
I am grateful to everyone who has responded, I really do appreciate.

You haven't confirmed whether or not you could find the Pic-T0-Painting already installed in its own folder under Program Files.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I had responded in a rush as I was heading out to run errands. No. I find it nowhere, not in programs, not in a folder separately, just no sign of it. that is including in the registry.JoeB wrote:You haven't confirmed whether or not you could find the Pic-T0-Painting already installed in its own folder under Program Files.
I should also clarify, the error 1316 specifically says "the account already exists". There is some information about that error in relation to other programs that reacted the same way after uninstall then reinstall.

Since you found regedit, you can do a search (ctrl-f) for "pictopainting" or similar. Try various combinations.sooz wrote:Oh, I'm so sorry. Re: Pic to painting installation error 1316 Please Help
Thank you. I have done that, extensively, exhaustively (is that a word?) hence the reason I came here. I simply cannot seem to solve this. Right now I am on about my fourth complete uninstall, reinstall. I would post the windows log error text because I always save it but it is unbelievably long. One thing I failed to mention; it does leave behind a little square .exe for Pic to Painting but the same thing happens if I click on that. It acts like its going to reinstall, gets all the way to the end then says "error 1316. the specified account already exists". It just happened again while I tried this reinstall. The rest of the program works fine, although it also tells me my painters essential trial has ended. Sometimes I wonder if having separate C and D drives on these newer computers was a bad design.
