File Format mismatch

Post by fred456885 »

I purchased a Fairy Dust Overlay from the Discovery Center but when I tried to add it to my animations under Graphics I received an error message that I had a file format mismatch. How is this possible? I bought it from Corel and it's an mov file like the others in my animations folder. Anyone have a suggestion?

Hi Fred
The Discovery Center shows *QuickTime is required for playing the *.mov files.
https://shop.learn.corel.com/products/f ... 2632&_ss=r

So do you have QT codec installed?

Please note:-there was a security issue regarding QuickTime player but installing the codec on its own had no problems

Hi Trevor--No, I didn't have QT installed, but I followed the directions on the YouTube video and installed the codecs, but when I tried importing the Discovery Center overlay I received the same error message. So the issue isn't playing an mov file within Corel, it's just importing one? The reason I ask is the other animations in Corel are all mov files and they play fine.

Hi Fred
What type of file are you trying to insert to the library
As as I can tell the template is provided as a .exe file, running that installs the Mov video to a folder on the desktop
These are the install instructions from the Discovery Center

Quote:-
Most overlays packs are delivered in the form of an .exe file, which is a program that will install the overlays onto your computer.
• Open the folder where you downloaded the .exe file.
• Double-click on the file to run the installer.
• Review and accept to the terms of the license agreement.
• Click Finish once the installation is complete.
The overlays will be installed in a folder located on your desktop and you’re ready to import them into VideoStudio.
• Click on the Graphic icon in the media library.
• Then select Animation from the Gallery dropdown menu.

Actually it downloads a zip file and when I extract the contents they appear in a folder as mov files. I just downloaded them again to make sure I hadn't missed something and the result was the same--file mismatch.

Hi Fred
I have uploaded the free sample from Discovery Center (Multi-color Confetti_04.mov) 32 Mb
Does this work on your program
I can insert the file direct to the timelines or the libraries Video Samples or Graphics library

Download from here

Tried saving it to my animations and tried inserting it to my timeline, and both times received the same error message--file format mismatch.

UPDATE: Trevor, I converted the confetti mov to an avi file and it imported. I then applied the chromo key overlay option and it worked.

It might sound a bit strange, but change the .mov extension to .mp4, and see if that works. I suggest it only because it seems to have fixed a similar sort of problem in the past.

Hi Ken, when I did that I got another error message saying, "There is no common media types between these pics." And if I convert it to an mp4 and try to use Chromo key, it won't key. The only thing that works is to convert the mov file to an avi and use the Chromo Key filter with the gamma set at -100.
