XMP editing data disconnected after reinstall?

XMP editing data disconnected after reinstall?
I recently upgraded my computer, and transferred all the PaintShop Pro Ultimate tools including Aftershot 3. When I open it up, I can view the images and edit them, but it appears that I have lost all the editing information, picks, stars, flags, and so forth. I still have the Aftershot 3 XMP files in the directory with the images, which were on a portable hard drive, but the program doesn't seem to be reading them. Is there a step I'm missing here?
