Windows shows a transparent image as black

This shows up in the File Explorer thumbnail as all black, a black rectangle:

When I open it in MS Word, PSP 2018, Affinity, PSP7, and MS Photos -- all rendered it correctly.

I'm using Areas that match this color. Color is set to white. Single color transparency. It still shows up as black. I think what that fellow said about only websites being able to render transparency might be correct.

Actually, websites (actually browser programs used to view websites) or other programs that have the ability to render transparency.

That said, it brings us back to the article that you read that provided the hint to use a transparent layer to hide the circles. So either that person was incorrect, or the article was not, in fact, specifically dealing with your particular issue but was aimed at producing a similar effect when rendered in a program that was running on Windows and not just Windows itself. Just a thought....

I've been experimenting with Windows 10 lately and I don't like that circular photo they give you on the logon screen[...]So I come across an article that explains that you can get rid of the circular image altogether by replacing it with a transparent image.

Right. Have you seen a circular login photo?

That's why I'm asking for the article. I'm assuming they're talking about the circular loading animation. But I could be wrong. Maybe they have a different set of default login screen images. In which case simply turning off the login screen images and going with a simple color would suffice no need to make anything.

What "circular loading animation?" What have I been missing? I ask again, has it been introduced after PSP 2018?

Windows 10 not PSP. Again, referring to what the original poster was asking about. They said they "don't like the circular photo they give you on the logon screen" PSP doesn't have a logon screen that I'm aware of. And they specifically stated they are experimenting with Windows 10.

Interesting. Neither my PSP nor my Win-10 have round log-on screens.

I think the one on the login screen is what they are talking about. I couldn't do a screen grab and had to take a photo of it instead since the "circle" appears prior to logging in.
