Windows Backgrounds Turn Yellow - Revisited

Post by allanhobbs55 »

I am using PSP 2019
All was good until Windows upgraded to latest 1903, or so I believe as I haven't been using PSP too much lately due to other commitments.
I know it an old issue and I have tried the supposed fixes from the old topic with no success and I don't believe anyone solved the issue.
If Corel are serious and want us to upgrade to newer versions they must solve this issue first or else we may have to look at other products.
But, at the moment I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that they may have fixed the issue and I just haven't seen the fix.
So, please prove me wrong and lead me to the fix, please. :D

I had that problem. I was on Win 7-64 at the time, had not opened PSP in a while when it showed up, but whenever I started PSP 2018, my windows turned yellow.

Edit: Apparently, this was my workaround ; " Desktop > Right-click > Personalize (at bottom of context menu) > Display > Calibrate Color > Next > Windows turn white-gray." However, I see Monitor Calibration as the last icon available under File in the Customize function of PSP. So until this Is fixed, you may wish to have a button on your main toolbar: I had to invoke my workaround every time I started PSP.

ehume - Thank you for your kind reply. I really think that if Corel want to keep their customer base they need to fix the issue ASAP.
Because it has been going on for so long it seems like they don't care.
Does anyone from the company ever see the issues on this site or is it just a place for everyone to get their issues off their chest with nothing really happening at Corel.
I would like someone from Corel if you are listening to respond as I ain't a happy user and I need to do work for a presentation early next week.

Hi allanhobbs55 and welcome to the board.

On occasion Corel employees visit the board but for the most part it's just us users. You could contact Corel directly https://www.corel.com/en/contact-us/ or try their Facebook page.

I'm afraid it's very unusual for Corel employees to reply here. One or two of them may look occasionally, but we can't be sure of it...

I guess we are lucky to have this place.
OP - There is hope. After a Win7 update, the yellow windows phenomenon stopped happening. I have downgraded (for free) to Win10, and the yellow windows have not turned up. IMO Corel has been following published Windows guidelines. MS broke the interface; MS fixed it. MS issues updates at least monthly, so keep applying those updates. Why did PSP alone suffer the yellow windows thing? I have no clue. I am just glad it stopped happening.

ehume - glad MS fixed the issue. I wish they would fix the issue in Win 10 I always update all software to the latest release and Win 10 is set to auto update.
Maybe I should complain to MS.

Thanks Barry - I thought Corel would be interested to see any issues that their products are having so as to improve them and to retain customers, by showing interest.

They had a lot of interest in my travails, but in the end could only watch as I struggled -- and I was in direct communication with an engineer who had a Canadian-sounding name.

Hello Guys
I have found a work around for Windows 10 1903 (it may work other versions)

Click START > Settings > Display then follow the instructions below.
This screen is yellow<br />This shows the current colour profile.
This screen is yellow
This shows the current colour profile.
This screen is yellow<br />Change the colour profile to another. When you do this the screen will go white.
This screen is yellow
Change the colour profile to another. When you do this the screen will go white.
This screen is Now White<br />Now change the colour profile back to the original and it should stay white
This screen is Now White
Now change the colour profile back to the original and it should stay white
This screen is White<br />This shows the current colour profile that you have reset to the original.
This screen is White
This shows the current colour profile that you have reset to the original.
Like previous fixes it needs to be done every time you start PSP, so its not the real fix just a pain to do every time you start PSP.
I hope this make sense.

Interesting. But I don't get that Color Profile window. See attached image.

My Windows 10 is also at version 1903. It might conceivably have something to do with the fact that my monitor (and computer) are 4K... though I somehow doubt it. In any case, I have never suffered from the yellow screen problem.

OP - Your workaround for Win 10 looks like mine did for Win 7. But there is a monitor calibration function in PSP that might be a little quicker to use.

As for display settings, I'm with Ken:

And I'm on Win 10-64:

I also have never had this yellow page problem.
I have the Night Light settings turned off and the only two choices I have are
2770M
sRGB IEC61966-2.1

In File > Color Management > Color Working Space I have sRGB Color Space Profile chosen.
In File > Color Management > Color Management I have Enable color management ticked, Basic Color Management radio button active, and Monitor profile sRGB Color Space Profile.icm chosen.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

I wouldn't have thought that 4k monitor would eliminate this option. Maybe its some other setting in windows.
