On the last Video Studio I had (X4) it was a 32bit programme, and to get 50fps I had to go via M2TS format then custom to choose 50fps (which automatically changed things to 720p) but it often looked like 25fps anyway if a few clips were added.
But it did render transitions better than the Pinnacle studio (15) that was on the main PC (white areas turned grey during transition on the final video file). I've kept with Pinnacle as far as version 20, but still have the transition issues regardless of PC.
What I need to know, is it now painless in Corel Video Studio to have smooth 50fps files? Does it still have the "Mpeg Optimiser" option, and if so would it work with 50fps files?
Original files are bog standard AVCHD from a camcorder.
I liked the usability of the old Video Studio, I know it will take longer to render (only 8gb of Ram), but for smooth running 50fps it would be worth it.
If it is possible, I intend to purchase via Amazon as a DVD-ROM.
Can I output smoothly in 50fps with Video Studio?

Re: Can I output smoothly in 50fps with Video Studio?
Hi Bill
And welcome to the forums
Yes video studio can render to 50P frame rates
Mpeg4 and Mts types can use 50P, what were you intending to create, I assume not a Bluray disc?
The latest version 2019 has limited Digital Dolby to stereo when running Windows 10, for Windows 7 there is no Digital Dolby.
You should download the trial to give it a run
Then from X4 check the messages for deals to purchase vs2019, if you have to re-install x4 it will be worth the effort, maybe 75% discount certainly worth a look
Even So I would advise that you purchase the download version as that will give you the latest updated version.

Re: Can I output smoothly in 50fps with Video Studio?
Finally tried the trial version (2019). It did not offer 50fps, despite being set up as a Pal tv system etc...
If I chose "Same as Project" it only offered 25fps.
I tried Corel's own recommended work around for this - Custom - M2TS then chose 50fps etc.. but although 50fps, it still looked more like 25fps on playback, not as fluid as the original footage.
It also cuts of the S from the extention M2TS (as do previous versions).
So I'll have to keep looking. Probably end up with Power Director, I'm just desperate to get away from Pinnacle Studio (20).

Re: Can I output smoothly in 50fps with Video Studio?
What are the properties of the original video file?
Right click a clip from the library or timeline and choose properties, what are they?
You indicate it being a Transport Stream don’t worry to much about the extension
My camera records to MTS
Rendering using Video Studio creates a m2t
When we burn a disc that format has to be m2ts for the players to recognise the format.
You seem to indicate that your original video is m2ts and therefor from a Bluray Disc, if so will probably be 1920 x 1080 x 25fps interlaced, not progressive.
Converting the 25i to 50P is not really gonna improve quality, just add duplicate frames.
What are you really trying to achieve

Re: Can I output smoothly in 50fps with Video Studio?
Original Footage is AVCHD Progressive (1080/50p) from a Panasonic Camcorder, model HC-V180.
The issues I have are that since I have a new decent monitor all the footage edited on the Pinnacle studio (versions 12, 15, 17 and 20) show faults in the transitions, where white or light areas are such as skies etc they change a second or two earlier than the rest of the pic. Similar if there is no transition, the sky will go grey for a second or two before the next clip not noticed before on older monitors, but now are (also shows up on phone screens too).
I know these faults do not exist in Corel Video Studio. Colours are more accurate in Video Studio too.
But It is only giving me 25fps as an option. Corel's help told me to go to the custom setting, choose the Transport stream option and customise that to get 50fps, this was the old work around on older VideoStudio's that then dropped the picture to 720p. This time it stayed at 1080p but still looks like 25fps, it has not got the smooth fluid movement of Pinnacle studio exports.
Worth pointing out that MP4/H264 is not a option in the trial version.

Re: Can I output smoothly in 50fps with Video Studio?
I cannot vouch for the trial version as that is limited in its functions
Video Studio X10, 2018 and 2019 can all render to 24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 50 fps
My Panasonic 900sd can record to 24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 50 fps
Video Studio can set its project properties using the same settings.
Make sure that Show Messages is set via Preferences (F6)
Start a new project and insert one of your clips to the top timeline, you should get a message to match the settings, view Details then ok/yes
The Share AVC/h.264 options does have a template to use AVC (1920 x 1080, 50p, 28Mbps)
Do you see that using the trial?
Also from Share top left is the option for Same as project Settings (greyed out a little)
Change that to Same as First Clip should use your clips properties.
Typically:-
MPEG Transport-Stream Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 50 fps
Frame-based
(HDMV-PAL), 16:9
H.264 Video
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 26000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 384 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
Please note that 2019 has removed Surround Sound when using Dolby Digital, Stereo is still available.
Corel Video Studio 2019 has problems with silent crashes, hopefully the next Service Pack will address that.
Because of that I have reverted to using X10

Re: Can I output smoothly in 50fps with Video Studio?
Thanks, what I needed to know was does it offer the option for 50fps in the paid for edition. There are plenty of 2018 versions to buy on Amazon via a disc. I don't want to trust those ebay downloads for a couple of quid. I started editing with back in 32bit days with Video Studio, but that was for interlaced output. I still like the ease of use that had.

Re: Can I output smoothly in 50fps with Video Studio?
Hi
I normally install the trial immediately after the initial release of the main program, missed out this year so decided to give it a run today. Better late than never
The AVC/H.246 option is not available using the trial as such the Same as First Clip is also unavailable.
The Same as Project Settings is available and would render using your video properties as 50P
I also found a workround using the Settings – Movie Profile Manager
1 / Select the Format as Mpeg2
2 / Select Add and then browse for one of your original MTS video files. (surprised the program accepted that)
3 / Give the profile a suitable name, then ok to close that panel then Close to exit the Profile Manager
4 / From Share Mpeg2 the profile down arrow shows your new profile.
and the trial has not crashed so far
