Which Videostudio and Computer requirements?
I've used X7 for a while now, but my laptop needs replacing. I've looked at getting both a new computer(desktop or laptop) and upgrading videostudio. The 2019 system requirements Corel lists mainly has the minimum needed. Which specs do you recommend getting way over the Corel minimum?
Also with just a quick look at threads on this forum, it doesn't seem everyone is thrilled with the 2019 videostudio and it's bugs. Which videostudio version works the best? Should I get something older than 2019 to avoid the bugs?

16GB RAM and the best performing CPU that you can afford.Colleen wrote:The 2019 system requirements Corel lists mainly has the minimum needed. Which specs do you recommend getting way over the Corel minimum?
This depends on what your doing with VS. There is a 30 day moneyback guarantee so you could give VS2019 a test drive and see if it's for you.Colleen wrote:Which videostudio version works the best?

Indeed you laptop is ancient for current video editing. Do you think about 4K? than you should aim for the beastly system you can afford.
But don't discard your X7, install it on your new one.

Are the newer versions of videostudio not as good as X7?

As you can see in my profile I'm still mainly with X9.2, even the later updates to X9.6 didn't make it to my system.
Other users may debate me.
In ~30 years of PC computing I learned that not every update is better, every update fixes few bugs only to replace them with new ones.

In my practice the X7 was till now the best version of Video Studio ( I use VS since Ulead V4). I did not tested the versions between X7 and VS2018. The last one is far away from stability point of view from X7, and Corel is trying to fix it since January 2018, without any positive results. The VS2019 is even worse - stopped to experiment with the latest version.

Re: Which Videostudio and Computer requirements?
Should I just stick with my X7 version or is there a better editing software out there? I've seen a few mentioned: Cyberlink Powerdirector, Vegas Movie Studio Platinum, Adobe Elements. I've enjoyed VSX7 but is there more that these others offer? Which are the most stable?

Non of the above is prefect, 100% bulletproof.
The best is the one you know best, to your needs.
The nature and style of your video work is the only criteria for which is better for the job.
A good user forum is a fine way to know what's going on, just start with provocative type question ans see what type of answers you get.

Re: Which Videostudio and Computer requirements?
The biggest advantage of the VS is its complexity and very nice features, what other programs do not offer, or just for extra costs etc.

Re: Which Videostudio and Computer requirements?
My son would like to build a new computer for me. I'm not sure what is good enough concerning the CPU and GPU. I've seen a few threads discussing AMD not working as well as Intel with VS. I'm not clear if that is concerning the CPU or the GPU or both. He has looked at these:
CPU: Core i7-9700 vs AMD Ryzen 7 3700
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 3 GB or 6 GB vs 1050Ti 4 GB vs AMD (can't remember which one)
Are these good, bad or overkill?
Also, I have concerns about Windows 10 compatibility with my VSX7. Since this will be a new computer and not just upgrading Windows on an earlier Windows 7 machine will I be able to install my VSX7 on it? If I end up needing a Windows 10 compatible VS which is best-X9 or getting the buggy 2018 or 2019? I know many have said the earlier versions are more stable than the current ones.

Re: Which Videostudio and Computer requirements?
If you want to keep your W7 than non of the new CPU's are good for you . The last W7 CPU's were the 6XXX, it can be install on the 7xxx with few hacks, but I don't know about the 8xxx or the 9xxx which are totally W10 oriented. Any GPU is an overkill for VS as it doesn't use it above basic display.Colleen wrote:My son would like to build a new computer for me. I'm not sure what is good enough concerning the CPU and GPU. *I'm considering replacing my 7 years GT430, for 1050 only because my other NLE do use it at times.

Re: Which Videostudio and Computer requirements?
I wasn't going to keep Windows 7. The new computer will have Windows 10. I was asking about VSX7 possibly not working on the new computer. I thought VS became Windows 10 compatible around X8. I know some have said X7 was the last VS they were happy with and others that X9 was still good, but the last two years VS have too many issues. Of the VS's since it became compatible with Windows 10 is X9 the best option?
So any GPU is overkill? What about any other editing programs? Do they benefit from a good GPU? I still want to use VS, but I might try adding an additional program.

Re: Which Videostudio and Computer requirements?
X7 will work on W10 as few here have many VS's on 10.
Do you still have your X7 installation files?
It is advisable to have many NLE's as non is perfect and each has a stronger point than the other. The best is the one you know to work with. Recently I added Magix movie studio 16Pla to my collection, and removed other. For the nature of your videos you need to decide what is needed.
