PSP 7...Tool Palette GONE

Post by mark4man »

hello...

using PSP 7 (from back when it was released by Jasc...I know...I know); & I've lost my 'Tool Palette'. I can get to all the tools in the 'Tool Options Palette', but it's so much more convenient to have the Tool Palette

any ideas on how to get it back?

thanx,

Have you tried Menu > View > Toolbars... > check in the box for Tool Palette?
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

Since clearing that box is the only way I know to lose those tools, I am flummoxed, and I have PSP7 disks -- pre- updates. There is a check-box specifically for that palette -- the toolbar on the left of your screen, correct?

The only trick I know (it worked for 10+ years) is Menu > View > Toolbars... > Tool Palette > check in the box. But you've tried that one already.

Nifty. I saved it as a Word document in my PSP7 distribution folder. Who knows when/if I will need it?

I wonder if it's possible that it's just off the screen. If you have dual monitors enabled but not using dual monitors? I just tried moving my tools pallet to my second monitor. If I close the program and restart it, it stays on the second monitor.

That's an interesting idea. What would happen if you disconnected a monitor, set your system up as a single monitor system temporarily . . .

Just changing the setting from dual monitor to single monitor was enough to move the tool palette to my main display.

I'd like to add that I'm glad to see that others here are still actively using PSP 7. It is the only "recent" version of PSP that I have that is reliable.

First of all, we are happy that you got your toolbar back. Secondly, we are happy to learn about the effect of two screens on a JASC PSP. It is definitely something to keep in mind with Corel PSPs.

Finally, I paid for PSPx4, x6-x10, so I used them all for increasingly more work. But I kept using PSP7 for some tasks. I thought PSPx9 was good enough that I finally quit using PSP7 for some things (that was some 17 years on PSP7) and began suing PSPx9 for everything. PSPx10/PSP 2018 was even better. At this point, if you are considering PSP 2020, I would recommend waiting to next spring when you will know if Corel is going to drop the price for the Ultimate package. To tell the truth, I am interested in that new photography tab, but I'll try it before I consider buying it.

Just to be clear, I'm not the original poster. So we have yet to hear whether my idea will help mark4man.
