Apologies if this has been covered before, and I'm sure it will have been, but I've tried searching the forum and I can't find what I'm looking for.
I'm trying to make my first DVD, and though I don't really know what I'm doing, I'm getting close. Close but not quite...
I have edited a clip in VideoStudio, and converted it into an MPEG 2 file. Iam now trying to use Movie Factory to make this into a DVD.
I tried a DVD-R disc, but my drive would not recognise it.
By mistake, I tried a CD-RW and this almost worked, except that when I play it in my stand-alone DVD player, it brings up a strange menu with audio and video folders. I can get the video to play, and the audio I selected for my Menu screen plays, but when the actual clip plays, there is no sound.
This disc will play perfectly well on my computer with Ulead DVD Player, however.
I just went out and bought some DVD+RWs, but my drive will not recognise these. I then dug out the specs of my drive and it is a Sony CD-RW drive, so maybe that is my problem there. Do I need a special drive to create DVDs?
I'm sure it's clear I'm fairly clueless about these things, but if I could just get a 10 second clip from camera to editing program to disc to DVD player, there would be no stopping me.
I'll be very grateful for any help anyone can provide
Problems with Audio and Menus

Is your drive definitely a DVD drive? If it is not recognising either DVD format, then you may only have a CD drive. Replacing it is not difficult though and I recommend the NEC 3540A, which recognises everything including dual layer discs, but not DVD RAM. There is an MF4 update specifically for this drive too.
Anyway, try a regular DVD movie in your drive to see if it is a DVD one.
