Manually tranfer CVS 10 archive into CVS 2019

Post by JWolters »

Hi.
You are the professionals. That is my question to you. How to do a manual import CVS 10 archive to CVS 2019. Can someone tell me how it works?
Thank you.

What archive?
There is Library export/import
lib.jpg
Trevor tried that a lot. I didn't, I transfer raw dat files when needed.

Thanks.
Yes, that's the place of on-board means. Unfortunately it did not work for an user of my Forum. Here a part of his quote
"... but unfortunately that does not work. The export out of version 10 is ok.Only when importing into 2019, the CSV hangs, with an empty error message window". As far as the user explanation.
Now he is looking for the way through the Win File Manager. Is there a way here - if so how?

Hi
Running a few tests using 2019 export / import libraries
First I tried to export 2019 library as a backup, but this froze 2019 (Not responding) although the library did appear to be saved?
I then chose reset library which worked ok

Then import library from X10 exported library
Little or no immediate indication that anything was happening, (sort of normal) then process bar showed updating followed by “do you want to import all Instant Projects…” yes to that.
X10 media library imported
However duplicate Score Fitter and Triple Scoop, both empty and was able to delete the folders
There was an additional All Media library folder which appears to be a duplicate of Samples

I then reset 2019 library and imported my own 2019 library which appears to have worked ok.

Please note Task Manager may show as not responding but usually recovers to complete the task.

Repeated import libraries from X10, appears to work for me although have the duplicate Score Fitter and Triple Scoop again
So yes there are problems in using the libraries import export features, not responding may confuse the import, a little patience and the program seems to recover.

How big is the library as that may affect the not responding time.?

As Asiks says we can copy the files from the reset folder
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\22.0
In the past it was relatively easy to copy the files, ( VS_Video.dat) could be copied on its own now with the library being updated to its recent format things became a little difficult, we now have to copy more files, VS_AllMediaView, VS_MediaLib_Video.dat

Asik is your man for copying these files, I no longer know which I should copy.

Your safest option is to manually move the clips to the X10 timeline, save the vsp and open using 2019 then drag the clips back to 2019 library.
Long winded if you have a big library.

Indeed it's a matter of size, we know from few other users who keep having gezilyon folders in VS, and it doesn't like that.
My favorite feature is "delete".

Many thanks. I passed it on like this. Let's see how the user clearly comes.

Later added. Which version does the folder "22.0" belong to?

Hi
Corel changed the program name after CVSX10, to use a date format. the next version should have been CVSX11, then X12
Now we have

X9 uses folder 19.0, the X is roman numeral for 10 + 9 =19
X10 = folder 20.0
X11 is now 2018 21.0
and X12 is now 2019 uses 22.0 (X is roman numeral for 10, + 12 = 22)
Clear as mud

similar named folders here
C:\Users\Trevor\Documents\Corel VideoStudio Pro\22.0

They may have been better naming the folder “2019” although it may be harder changing the folder names than the program description.

Hi.
I have to report the user success. I have the user transmits Trevor tips. In short:
Export from X10 in a folder named (example) X10-folder. Start in VS2019 the import of the above X10-folder. Be patient with these actions and allow for waiting time.
Well, that's exactly how he had success. The user also reported partially duplicate library content.

For me, this thing is first off the table. If anything should be open, I will contact you. I thank both of you.
