Post by JoeB »

Is it just me or are there a bunch of sticky topics missing from this board?

Correct. Those two topics have been unstickied (not removed) and will be replaced shortly when PSP2020 is officially released.

Also, wasn't there a prominent sticky similar to this: PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING! ?

I think more than those two you mentioned are missing, but just can't remember all of them. :-(

Could you please be a bit more expansive with your answer? I can understand the two items that @ehume mentioned not being relevant. But if, in fact, the PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING sticky has been removed, is there some reason for that? Also, were more items than the two previously mentioned and the PLEASE READ item also removed? If so, which ones?

Hi
Go to the index page
index.php
where you should find “Please Read This Before Posting & FAQ's“

viewforum.php?f=63

The wish lists are only posted on this forum after the program has been released to the general public
At least that is what has happened in the past.
So far I have not seen PSP being advertised on Corel.com, the index page header still shows PSP 2019

Have a little patience

Makes sense. But now I have to start a whole thread on something.

I'm afraid that does not answer my question. First of all, the Index page has posts relating to ALL Corel products. On this Paint Shop Pro board - which is where I directly log In - we had certain stickies - including the PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING sticky - until a few days ago. As I previously stated, I understand why the two stickies relating to PSP2019 wish lists, etc., have been removed or unstuck.

What I asked was:

1) Why was the PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING removed? It was here before even if there is a similar one on the Index page.

2) What other stickies that were on this board - if any - were removed or unstuck at the same time that the PSP2019 stickies were?

What is the problem getting an informed answer to a couple of simple questions? If I want to get "no useful response" answers to queries I can always try getting information from Corel supposed support.

I certainly have not removed anything and I am not aware of the other two active Admin/Mods (Trevor/lata and Kathy_9) doing so. The last cull I can recall was at least two years ago by Admin RonP. Ron has not been active here for quite a while, so I can't imagine he would have removed anything without prior consultation. The other Mods are not particularly active at the moment and tend to stick with their own areas, which do not include PSP. I also don't think anyone in Corel with Admin/Mod status would have done anything. In the PSP forum, it's Joseph Lin from Corel who usually asks me or Trevor to do something rather than doing anything himself, and he certainly has not done so for quite a while...

So are you telling me that, until a few days ago, we didn't have a sticky similar to this: PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING! ?

Because earlier in this thread I asked this question: "Also, wasn't there a prominent sticky similar to this: PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING! ?" And Kathy's response was "Yes."

So I recall having that sticky. Kathy seemed to have responded that we had it but didn't elaborate. And you seem to be telling me that either we didn't have it or, if we did, nobody removed it or unstuck it. So if we had it, did it just remove itself or unstick itself and is lost somewhere waaaayyy down the board?

And yes, somebody at least unstuck the two stickies regarding PSP2019 mentioned above, so if they are lost way down the board it's basically equivalent of removing them - at least as stickies and topics that are not easy to find.

I know this might not seem terribly important, but sheesh! Either tell me I imagined that we did have that sticky and that in fact it never existed, or please opine on what might have happened to it. And perhaps Kathy can explain her one word "yes" reply.

Once again, curious minds... :?

I don't think Kathy's "Yes" related specifically to the READ THIS message -- she was just agreeing that other things could be missing. But she will have to answer that herself. And all I can say is what I have already said, recalling to the best of my ability... It's a long time since I looked at any of the stickies both here and elsewhere... And I certainly know I never removed anything!

And if she was agreeing that other things (other, that is, than the two PSP2019 stickies) might be missing, then your previous post - which seemed to imply that nobody who has the ability to remove stuff would have done so couldn't have been quite accurate, because Kathy must then have been saying that possibly other stickies were missing also.

And I do remember the PLEASE READ THIS sticky because it was in all uppercase, and it was - if I recall correctly - the last sticky before new postings. It was, in fact, my "bookmark" that was easily visible/eyecatching and that I used as a marker to scroll past the stickies to get to the newest posts. Just saying....

FWIW, I have now gone through 13 pages of the Admin Log and 11 pages of the Mod logs which in both cases took me back to 1 May 2019. Those logs cover literally everything that occurs on these forums by any of our registered Admin or Mods: post approvals and disapprovals, new users, banning of users, and other admin tasks. It also includes references to deletion of posts. In that period there was no reference to any deletion of the PLEASE READ post, or for that matter any of the other real or imagined stickies. I will go back before 1 May when I have the time, but suspect that will also not produce anything, given that you appear to be recalling something closer to the current time...
