arg! can't import mkv files in Ultimate 2019

Post by junkaroo »

I'm finally getting back to playing with Ultimate 2019. could have sworn the trial version imported mkv but the purchased version doesn't import any mkv files. To get it to recognize mkv files I have to choose "all files" but it still won't import them

I can get around this by using Video Redo TV Suite to create 1 to 1 copies in another format, but I'm wondering if there's an easy fix to get Ultimate 2019 to recognize mkv files

Whilst I'm here is there any tutorial about resizing videos in the first video track? I do these personal projects where I sometimes use videos of different aspect ratios and sometimes I need to make the screen size larger to fill or do what I can with those older tv screen size (4x3?) clips. I know I can put videos in the overlay track and resize them but I wonder about loss of video quality in the added track

thanks for any help!

Whenever you "enlarge" videos, you lose some quality and it doesn't matter on what track you place the video. Consider that if have a 720x480 video and you want to change the dimensions to 1280x720, then the program has to create extra pixels which can/will distort the image.
If the full VS 2019 version does not import a mkv file then the trial version would not have imported them either.

Not all mkv files are equal, VS imports some and not others. I usually have to run mkv files through a converter to make them VS acceptable. It is not only VS that has problems with mkv since even VLC does not play some of them.
