PSP 2020 starts much faster in Edit mode than it does in Manage mode, about 8 seconds for Edit mode versus 26 seconds for Manage mode.

I think part of the slowness of Manage mode is PSP inventorying my many photo folders.

It used to show as Protexis Licensing and now shows in the task manager as PsiService. If the service is stopped and sometimes if it's set to manual you will get the piracy notice.

See if this helps. https://support.corel.com/hc/en-us/arti ... ntshop-Pro
It has shown as PsiService in task manager for at least several versions now. That is one service that I don't stop from having internet access because without it I don't think PSP will work and, as you say, it would generate that message. The messages I get with older versions aren't quite the same. When I start them the message asks if I am a victim of piracy. I also recall getting a message that says that I have an illegal version, but I can't remember either if that happens when I open or when I close those versions, and I can't recall if there is a difference in which message I get depending on which older version I might be opening/closing at the time. I rarely open them except if I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem posted in this forum by someone with the older versions.

Well I have obviously "tampered" with the program because I had located one file that seemed to generate messages and deleted it from all Corel programs. This seems to have stopped all of the annoying popup type messages like suggesting upgrades, special pricing, etc. But that likely explains why the programs now think there is something wrong with them because, from Corel's perspective, there is. That's life in the fast lane!

The Comparison Chart lists 5 new features:
- Photography Workspace
- SmartClone
- Refine Brush
- Brushes, color palettes, gradients, patterns and picture tubes
- Copy and Paste Layer Styles
Source: https://www.paintshoppro.com/static/psp ... rix-en.pdf

Where "Photography Workspace" isn't really a new feature, just a workspace. And "Brushes, color palettes, gradients, patterns and picture tubes" just got "new options". What are those new options?

So, overall I see just 3.5 new features. Are they worth paying the upgrade?

All other features are either "improved" or unchanged. Implementation for 4K-support already began in PSP 2018, so we already paid for it.

I haven't been able to work out how the layer trick works.
The Photography Workspace is just old hat in a new environment. The effects have been there since X7?
The download of the new content crashes out on both pc and laptop
The Refine Brush is new, but build on existing selection tool. Just done some settings for you to play with.
Same with Smart Clone. If you are handy with the ordinary clonebrush, you don't need the Smartclone.

So.because it's worth it?

Thank you for your response, Zantara.
Perhaps this new version was originally meant to be a minor update.

Two new features are missed:
- the ability to copy Layer Style and paste it on another image.
- in the downloaded version, the ability to "Repair" the software (I have not verified). We should have now: Modify, Repair, Remove.

Thanks, Jean-Luc. It wasn't just me then that couldn't find the copy layer style. You can drag a saved (transparent) layer from one image in the Organizer onto an open image anyway. No click needed :-)
About the "Repair" I don't know, yet.
