I would like to see the entire dropshadow, not just the part that peaks out from behind what is making the shadow.
Here is what made the shadow, now distorted:
Here is its shadow, also distorted:
What I would like is to see the entire shadow, so I could deform its layer to make it appear that the shadow was under the shadow-caster, not behind it.

If you want to be able to manipulate a drop shadow separately from the image that created it, then when you create the drop shadow make sure to check the checkbox that says Shadow on New Layer. This will create a layer of the complete shadow underneath the original image layer. You can then select that shadow layer and manipulate it as you wish separate from the image that created the layer.

Re: Wish List for PSP 2020
What you said is true. Too bad I made the example with the "Shadow on new layer" checked. That part is all well and good: I got the image of the shadow from the separate lower layer. You can see, though, that the image just shows what is visible in the original; it does not show the whole shadow.JoeB wrote:If you want to be able to manipulate a drop shadow separately from the image that created it, then when you create the drop shadow make sure to check the checkbox that says Shadow on New Layer. NB -- it would be nice if a user could copy the name of an element; for example, I had to transcribe "Shadow on new layer." I could not copy it and paste it.

Re: Wish List for PSP 2020
Is This what you are trying to get?
1.Starting with an image - in this case a Preset arrow with Retain Style unchecked. Then the vector layer converted to a raster layer.
2. Effects >3D Effects > Drop Shadow. 3. My settings for the drop shadow including the Shadow on New layer. But the image and the shadow are linked and you must unlink them to be able to manipulate the shadow alone. 4. Now you can use the move tool or the pick tool on the shadow layer alone and have the shadow completely separated from the image.

How to Manipulate a Drop Sahdow
[NOTE from Ken Berry: I think this post refers back to hartpaul's last post here, not to epseja's...]
First of all, I'm thinking we should move this out of the Wishlist thread and start a new one from where I asked for the feature.
Second, in your #3 image you have created just what I want in the layers: you have the whole shadow, not just the edges. How did you do that. I have delinked the layers, but in PSP 2018 . . . I see now. I copied from an old image and started a new one. This one is apparently a pspimage without the limitations of the jpg it came from. Now when I go to save such a thing the layers will merge. So PSP will do what I want . . . in PSPimage.
