Well in VS, FX filters are dragged and dropped onto a clip and then adjusted as required mainly using key frames. While you think this a pain, it does give you alot of control which many users find important.

there should be an easier way to crop. it shouldn't take like 3 button clicks at most to do it.
If you can find a software that can do what you want in "3 button" clicks then please let us know! You might be able to do it for photos but never for moving video

I didn't say anything about moving the video. I was talking about video that has motion a lot of motion in it like yours.

Of course cropping is used "SOOO much in videos" but it is not not with 3 button clicks.

We do not know yet where did you get the information that it is common to crop the video ( cut it smaller) and than enlarge it for the full format. I just came home from the newest professional 20 camera 4k OBvan and this function is available only when they crop the 4k picture and use it for HD but not into the same format as the original.......
On the picture are just 6 from the brand new high speed 4k cameras

20 years ago I was demoing a software of that "era" , one potential customer asked me if it can take a full crowd shot of hundreds and zoom into one person. I said "yes but it will be pixellated" so he reply.. "but they do so in the movies...."

if you look at my orginal post i'm just cropping out the very left edge of the screen to remove the car. I'm filming in 2.7k.

Visual studio gives you two ways to do it. It turns out one method destroys the quality. And this happens to be the easiest most obvious way to crop.

i make youtube videos, you crop in to make a point . it's one of the top tools you use. if you're talking to the camera and want to make a point, you crop in when you say the words you want to accentuate.

Yes YT crops it to make the size smaller, but you wanted to enlarge the picture and it is the difference.

Again, you are confusing "cropping" and "zooming". There is no such thing as "crop in". All "cropping" does is remove part of an image. If you want the cropped image to fill the screen then the image has to be "expanded" and you lose quality. There is simply no way to keep the original quality. Of course you can use the "smaller" cropped image in a video and keep the original quality but you will have to accept some border around the cropped image.
