Paint Shop Pro 7 Retouch Tool Problems

Post by Zetec7 »

Newb herem hope some of the gurus can help me.

I've had PSP 7 Anniversary Edition for several years (I just bought 2019 as well, but the learning curve is extreme for me) and use it on a daily basis. It's been running perfectly on my Win10 64 for a long time. No issues until a couple of days ago, then suddenly most of the tools didn't work.

A couple of days ago, my favorite tools stopped working properly. Push, smudge, flood fill, paint brush, etc. all went extremely hard & coarse. Instead of smooth strokes, every stroke results a series of hard-edged, irregular blobs. Going back & forth over the same area with the tool simply makes the blobs harder, with large gaps of untouched area around them. Even flood fill results in a shotgun-like pattern, rather than fill.

I tried setting hardness to zero, density to 100, etc., but none of the available adjustments make any difference whatsoever.

I tried uninstalling the program, then reinstalling from the original CD. No change.

Then, I did it again, rebooting the computer after uninstalling, then a fresh reinstall from the CD after the reboot. Still no improvement.

Anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?

Here's a sample of "push" on a picture of my car. This was a single pass with "push", set to opacity=84, hardness=0, step=1, density=100 These are typical settings I've used for years with total success. Now, it's total suck.
