CPU spikes caused by PaintShop Pro 2019

Post by onlymarilyn »

Hi,
I have searched until I am blue in the face to find an answer to my question before I asked here, it has taken me way longer to try to find an answer than I was hoping I would have to do, but that is beside the point.
I am running Windows 7 home premium 64 bit, I am not computer savvy so please be kind, I am not a spring chicken either, and on top of that I am blond (lmao), so if you can speak in "blond friendly" language it would be much appreciated. (I hope I am causing smiles, not frowns)
Okay, here is the problem, I am using Paintshop Pro 2019 ultimate on my Windows 7 computer. While using my psp, it will all of a sudden freeze on me, sometimes this freeze lasts up to 5 minutes and then everything goes back to working. I was recommended to use the Process Explorer program to monitor my computer and when I have it turned on I see that Paintshop Pro causes a huge spike in my CPU usage during the time it is freezing, and then as quickly as the freezing happens, it unfreezes, the spike in cpu usage drops down to normal and all systems are a go once again. No matter how hard I try to get it out of the freeze mode, hitting escape, and anything else I think will unfreeze my PSP, nothing helps, I just have to sit and wait for it to unfreeze. The only other things my task manager or the Process Explorer show me is that my PainstShop Pro seems to stay in the Suspended Process category. I have searched until I can't figure out any where else to find me an answer, everything I find seems to be unrelated to my issue. Anytime I add the word "freezes", it automatically send me to issues about the computer freezing or that PSP stays frozen. Mine freezes and then unfreezes, freezes and then unfreezes, over and over again.
If anyone can help me I would be forever grateful.
Thank you for taking a look at my problem
Marilyn
I don't know if I can upload an image but if so I have one.

Not a clue, but the first thing I'd do is run the free version of Piriform's Ccleaner to get rid of unneeded files. I would not run the registry cleaner. The second thing I'd do is run the free version of Superantispyware to get rid of tracking cookies and other junk. Do you run an anti-virus program? I'd probably unplug the network, temporarily shut off the anti-virus program, then run PSP and see if the problem still occurs.

What's your RAM usage? I see you only have 500mb. That's really low.
System Requirements for PSP 2019 are at least 4Gb of RAM. Your motherboard supports a maximum of 16Gb of DDR3 memory. Definitely buy some more RAM.

Hi CHoffman...
First I do have antivirus and use CCleaner all the time. I have turned off everything (that I know would affect my psp), nothing helps in that manner.
Thank you for your input

Hi Despotes...
Yes you may be right, my computer is an oldie but a goodie (well to me anyway) and I will check into adding more RAM, I don't know why I thought i had added all that could be added, of course like I explained I am of the blonde genre and like my hubby likes to tell people, "there isn't any bleach in that blond" heehee, I don't mind being teased about being blonde...after all I am and it is what it is.
Thank you for your input I will add more RAM and if it solves the problem I will come in and let you all know.
