Assertion failed during rendering
I have got this error twice now in the last 2 days during rendering (to Mpeg 4) my project.
The first time it happened and after Googling I did a 'repair' of the latest installed version of Microsoft Visual C++ (2017) and tried again and then the rendering completed without incidence.
This morning after making some small adjustments to the timeline (same project) the error happened again (during rendering) and looking at the 'progress bar' it seems to have happened around the same place (after about 75% complete).
During the rendering I decided to do something else (check my emails maybe) and I am wondering if that can have an effect. Should the PC be left alone during rendering?
Any thoughts?
I can't ever remember having this error before and the only difference between then and now is that I upgraded my memory from 8GB to 16GB (matched 8GB modules).
BTW according to the list of programs available to be uninstalled I see a number of Microsoft C++ listed. Should they all be there?
Lastly how do I enable JIT?
Thanks
John

Re: Assertion failed during rendering
Hi John
I have no idea what is going on here regarding the error message
One thing you can look at, 75% along the timeline is there a clip about 20 Sec+
I recall another poster having a strange message that included a line number which turned out to be the number of frames in a clip, in your case 584. (the other poster had a 29.97 clip added to a 25 timeline and applied reverse video, it did not like that)
It’s a long shot and I may be well out with my thoughts here.

Re: Assertion failed during rendering
I don't have that cpp file at all, do you Trevor?
**Well, google found Robert's issue from 2015
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=57559
So I went to look into that dll, it seams to be related to the album.vfx ,
I recall that Album transition is tricky and not showing sometimes in library . In my 2018 it names Flip and on my X9 it's gone...

Re: Assertion failed during rendering
Hi Asik
No CPP file here but it may only be present during rendering and deleted when rendering is complete, just a thought.

Re: Assertion failed during rendering
Well one thing for sure, this transition is heavy. Once applied my humble system takes a rest and each click takes few seconds. This 3D transition have many internal settings and looks for cuda .
As we know VS and cuda don't harmonize I think the best action is to delete that album.vfx never be tempted to be used

Hi Asik
You updated your post to include comments re Album transitions, I missed those comments.
The Album transition seems to work ok on my pc, plays ok with no lag and renders without problem. Tested using X7 and X9

You are not a CUDA guy so you are in the clear.lata wrote:Hi Asik

Let's hope John or Robert will come and tell if there issue is Album related.

Re: Assertion failed during rendering
I didn't use that transition but I have used the audio from video clips by dragging the video clip onto the audio track. Maybe that can cause problems?
BUT it doesn't happen every time I render.
BTW you guys have me at 'hello'. I have seen the words before but can't remember what CUDA is, or what a CPP file is. AND file album.vfx - ah it's the transition album group and in VS X6 there is only one transition which is FLIP which I have never used.
BTW do any versions of VS allow you to display project 'properties' such as -
total video clips
what transitions were used
what audio files are included

No there isn't any utility that "reads" VSP's , corel waste R&D on useless stuff not on practical one.jparnold wrote:I didn't use that transition but I have used the audio from video clips by dragging the video clip onto the audio track. Maybe that can cause problems?

Strange... so why the hell that dll was called for?

Cuda is Nvidia GPU render grinders
Lets hope it's just internal Ulead joke that the transitions files are vfx, and the FX's files are vft's and not directed by marketing![]()

Re: Assertion failed during rendering
Hi John
The flip A/B transition appears to be similar to the Album transition which did give a lot of issues when first provided, there were about 6 separate album options, very slow
Then Corel combined them into one transition allowing us to customise which seemed to improve the flip performance.
The Cuda afaik is part of Intel graphics, do a google search on that. Using AMD I know little about that.
I do not think either of these is causing your problem, I could be wrong of course.
I think you may have a problem with a clip at approximately 75% along the timeline as its at 75% that the error always occurs.
I don’t know what effect dragging a video to the audio tracks would have, I would have used Split Audio although I think it would be the same result, adding the videos audio stream to the audio track.
If you can zip your VSP and attach to your post we can have a quick look, although will not be able to vlew your actual files, may make it a bit tricky
And no there is no options to list the clips used in a project
Later versions (X9 onwards) do show a green tick mark on the clip within the library for clips that have been used in the timeline, and that can be useful. Don’t have X8 installed to check that version.

Re: Assertion failed during rendering
Thanks Trevor.
I dragged a video clip onto the audio track as I did not want the video part of the clip (otherwise I would have split the audio) but merely wanted to replace the sound on one video clip (which had a lot of noise) with the audio from a different video clip. I have also done this by splitting the audio from a clip I don't want then dragging the split audio under the clip I want to keep and then deleting the clip I don't want from the video track BUT I still end up with a mts file on the audio track which is the same.
Once again this error (assertion failed) does not happen all the time. I re-rendered twice last night without getting the error. When I get time I will start running other application while a render is in progress to see if I can duplicate.
I looked again around 75% along the timeline and found I used the FLYING FLIP transition which you mentioned so perhaps it is causing problems at times. If I can reproduce the error I will change that transition to something else and retest although I do like that transition when changing from one scene to another which is physically of the view behind the first clip UNLESS there is something similar you can suggest.
The green tick mark on clips within the library would be almost as good.
