PSP 2019 keeps freezing?
Hi guys
Been a while since I used PSP 2019 but tried it tonight and each time I try to open a file, any file jpg, raw or whatever then PSP just freezes requiring Task manager to close the it??
Clicking `check for updates` in PSP says I`m up to date and I`m also upto date with Win10 1903 64bit any ideas please? PSP2018 still works fine BTW.
thanks
Steve

You could try resetting PSP. With the program closed, hold down the Shift button and click the desktop PSP icon. You will be asked if you want to reset. OK that. Make sure you save any customization of your workspace as it will be lost in the reset.

You say the same thing, over and over. Do you have the advice saved?Ken Berry wrote:You could try resetting PSP. With the program closed, hold down the Shift button and click the desktop PSP icon. Good advice. You should have it saved as a macro or something.

Re: PSP 2019 keeps freezing?
I used to have a program which could store large numbers of regularly used text. But I no longer know where the installer is kept, and I'm also not sure it works on Windows 10.

Re: PSP 2019 keeps freezing?
Thanks ... and yes, I was aware of this. But I also have to confess that despite my 30 years of using a computer very regularly, I have never once made or used a macro!

Re: PSP 2019 keeps freezing?
Sorry for late reply guys but only just had chance to try the `shift and click` to try and open images but still same happening??. I can run PSP2019 ultimate no problem but the second I click on `open` for an image it freezes requiring Task manager to close it down. I don`t even get to select an image, anything else I could try please?.

Re: PSP 2019 keeps freezing?
There are a number of ways of getting an image into the workspace
1. Open using the folder icon below View
2. File > Open
3. Control O
4. View > Palettes > Organiser (or Shift F9) and then navigate to the folder containing the images. Double click a thumbnail showing along the bottom.
5. Withe organiser showing drag an image into the workspace.
6. Go to Manage mode and in thumbnail view select an image and then go back to Edit mode.
7. Open Windows File Explorer, navigate to the folder and drag an image onto the workspace.
8. in Windows Explorer right click on the thumb of an image and select Open With and choose Paintshop Pro 2019
9. Open the image in another program eg Photos and then rightclick and Copy. Go to your open PSP 2019 and right click the workspace and choose Paste as New Image.
10 If you have another version of PSP open it and open the image in it. Then drag the layer thumb down to the task bar and onto the minimised PSP2019 and when that opens continue dragging and drop in the empty part of the workspace.
Check and see if any of these ways work in opening an image.
The other thing that can freeze PSP is if it tries to open from a folder with mixed images and other files. pdf files seem to cause a problem but maybe another corrupted file could cause that as well.
So when you click Open does it show the folder that it is trying to use and if so can you move the contents to another folder (say on your desktop) and then only leave a jpg or two . Try Open again and see if it works .
