Is PS faster with higher speed or more cores? I'm debating between a 9900K or 3900X for my next system upgrade from my 7700K.
Thanks
PS optimized for AMD or Intel? 9900K or 3900X

Nobody knows if PSP is optimized for higher core count or simply a faster clocked speed?

Looks like it, since you have given the forum 1-1/2 days. You might try asking Corel tech support -- Corel itself. Be prepared to find out they don't know either -- it's my impression PSP has always relied on the OS. While you are waiting on a response from Corel, you might try looking up PSP on Wikipedia. Although much of the directory structure goes back to when PSP was a JASC product, IIRC Corel bought another app and turned it into PSP.Despotes wrote:Nobody knows if PSP is optimized for higher core count or simply a faster clocked speed?
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

I contacted tech support and he apparently didn't have a clue. He said, "Regarding your concern, Your CPU can maximize the performance of Paintshop Pro. No need to overclock it." I asked him again telling him he didn't answer my question and his 2nd reply was exactly the same as his first. It's like talking to a robot.

Firstly this is a PSP forum. Not Photoshop.
So it really depends which product you are asking about, but since PSP is barely multithreaded I susoect it the Intel that you're after.

PS is traditionally the abbreviation for Photoshop. PSP for PaintShop Pro. That's why they thought you were asking about Photoshop.
