SmartPhotoFix with Saturation = 0

Post by Randlov »

Is it possible to edit SmatPhotoFix.PspScript so Saturation always is = 0?
I have tried to delete the line 'Saturation' : 0 in the script, but saturation is still increased.
I use the function for scans of old photos where I don't want the saturation increased. Now I have to set Saturation = 0 manually, and batch processing is not possible.
Regards
Peter

Are you sure that the script with Saturation zero is actually applying the Saturation filter and that it's not the effect of the White Balance that is causing the appearance of increased saturation?

Thank you JoeB
As I understand white balance in SmartPhotoFix you have to point to a neutral part in the before image to change white balance, and it does not change value for saturation.
White balance is not mentioned in the script, but the script includes several commands I cannot decipher.
What I need is a command, which forces Saturation = 0 especially when using Smart Photo Fix in batch processing.
In my scanned images (antique stereoscopic cards) saturation normally gets values between 20 and 30. In the script I have tried to change the line with saturation to 'Saturation': -25, but it does not change the result.

I misspoke. I meant the Greybalance part of the script doing it's thing and that the result could look as if it was increasing saturation using the Saturation filter which, of course, it's not using.

Just curious: what are you trying to correct?
There is also a OneStepPhotoFix script:

If I understand correctly you have some faded color photos that you want to increase the contrast but you don't want the saturation of the colors to go to far.

I use a brightness / contrast adjustment layer and change the blending to luminance.
This will allow you to change the lightness or the contrast or both without affecting the colors.

Thank you for all replies.
After e few tests it looks like One Step Photo Fix is better than Smart Photo Fix for my use.
There are several good methods, if you are handling a single photo, but I often have several hundred, so batch processing is the most realistic way.
Best regards
Peter
