Where have the Manage and Adjust tabs gone?

I use PSP 2018. Today I notice that the Manage and Adjust tabs are gone.

I thought it was my computer (I don't trust them): I had to rebuild my workspace earlier this week because all of the earlier ones were gone.

But today I could not revisit PSP once I had gone elsewhere. Even worse: the place at the bottom that represents an app did not reopen PSP. I had to use Task Manager to kill it (it told me PSP was not responding). BTW -- I use Windows 10.

So I tried resetting my database. I saw the three tabs (not counting the Welcome Star tab) for a second; then they were gone. I tried reloading my previous Workspace. No tabs.

Then I tried holding down the Shift key when I started the app. No Manage or Adjust tabs. then I uninstalled, restarted my computer, then reinstalled PSP 2018.

I do not have this problem in PSPx9 or PSPx8.

When I go to Complete, I get my Manage tab back. But the Adjust tab is still AWOL.

In Preferences > Tabs, what do you have showing? Is the Adjust box ticked?

And now that I have rebuilt my Edit workspace, I find my leftmost two tabs are gone, including the Manage tab that used to be there.

Ah. The Help file. Found Tabs in the Preferences. Back to normal now. But that doesn't explain the failure in the 1st place.

You have nailed the issue. But I never went in there to uncheck that box, which is why I never thought of it. Actually, there were two boxes unchecked. Oh well, I got a chance to review my icon choices and to explore the innards of PSP a little more.

Odd. This afternoon my daughter complained that she could not connect with the Internet. She had been gone, and to come home and find this was disconcerting.

Before she spoke with me she had run Win 10's Troubleshooter, which told her it could not fix her problem. We then checked the cables connecting her with the router (the rest of us had no problems). I looked at the back of the tower to see if this motherboard had twin Ethernet sockets (it did not). We speculated that the MB could have failed, but would have to wait to move one of the other computers. In the meantime, my daughter did some more rooting around Win 10, and looked again at the network adapter (where she and her sister had never been before). The Ethernet was turned off.

She turned the Ethernet on again, and lo! the Internet appeared. I think we have been visited by a poltergeist.
