Video Studio will not install & run

Post by JDH99 »

Hi, I am keen to use Video Studio (ideally 2019) having used a much older version in the past just for basic editing with various video file formats, and have downloaded the trial version to assess it (not willing to purchase it until I can see it working on my PC).
Unfortunately it installs and then crashes (error 0xc000007b) called from "RenderService.exe". All subsequent attempts to run the app generates the same error message from "VStudio.exe".

From Corel support (early June), I have fully removed it & reinstalled both with 2019 & 2018 several times with the same result. This is run as Administrator.
Submitting a msinfo32 & WinAudit reports determined that the cause may be the integrated Intel Graphics processor.
So I have purchased an external graphics card & installed it (disabling the integrated one) but the result is unchanged.
Further support exchanges over the past month have not progressed matters.

For Info the PC is: 8GB ram, plenty of HDD space with the OS on an SSD, Win10 Pro 64bit, NVIDIA GeForce GT 710 graphics card, Base board P8Z68-M PRO, processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz.
All software is up to date & Registry seems clean (showing no errors). Runs have been tried with the Anti-virus software disabled with no luck. All other apps etc work correctly.

Does any one have any other suggestions that I can try before finally abandoning Corel ?
Many thanks

Hi John
and welcome to the forums

What do you mean by “disabling the integrated one”, are you referring to the NVIDIA GeForce GT 710

My first thoughts would be to remove all graphics cards, NVIDIA GeForce GT 710 and the new external card running the pc using the Asus P8Z68-M PRO
on board graphics.
If the problem persists then it may be the motherboards graphics that are causing the issues and not the actual graphics cards.
Check your motherboards drivers to make sure you are using the latest versions.

It is possible that the trial is corrupt, I do recall another poster having issues installing the Trial, although you have also installed 2018, I assume that to be the trial.
The other poster did purchase the full version which installed ok, you could try that with the option of a 30 day money back deal should thing not improve.

Sorry but I cannot think of anything else to try, I am sure you have done most things

Hi Trevor,
The "integrated one" is a reference to the Intel i5 CPU that has its own basic graphics processor integrated into the chip. The GT 710 is the new external graphics card that I installed 2 weeks ago. If I disable/ remove them both then there will be no video output and hence I cannot see what is happening. Yes the 2018 is a version that was sent by Corel Support, and the mobo drivers are the latest.

From other users that have posted problems where versions of Video Studio that did work stopped working after a Win10 update, I fear that the problem may be harder to track down.

Thank you for your suggestions and I will consider the purchase & return option.

Regards John

Hi John
The windows update issue may be fixed by applying a hotfix provided by Corel, I assumed you had tried that being in touch with Corel support

Thank you for advising me of this; a reasonable assumption but no the Corel Support did not offer or advise me of this !

Unfortunately this change of replacing the iEncoder.dll with one dated 02/01/2019 does not enable the program to open (still gives the same error message 0xc000007b) and crashes instantly an attempt is made to start the program.
The fix states that it is only for the 2018 version but I assume that it would be OK for the 2019 version.
I understand from other postings on this forum that others have had problems with Video Studio after a particular update to Win10 (build 1903) that post dates this particular dll, but obviously I have no idea if this is linked to my problem.

Regards. John
