HI, I cannot edit HEVC encoded files 4K 60fps in Corel Video Studio Ultimate 2019
I exports them but they are all black !
In same time Vegas Movie Studio properly imports them and I can edit those very same files.
What is happening and how to fix it ?
Thank you

Re: Corel Video Studio Ultimate 2019 and HEVC encoded files
Can we assume you have added the Microsoft HEVC extension to your computer?
Mind you, I am in exactly the same situation as you in that Video Studio will not allow me to edit or produce HEVC, yet all my other NLEs do. I see you have a Radeon RX 580 graphics card which I assume is up to the job since Movie Studio can produce HEVC on the same computer. But I am not exactly sure what your CPU is. You say it's a "Core i4770" but is it a Core i5 or i7? I had in any case thought that a 4th generation Intel Core i? was not up to the job, but again, the fact that Movie Studio works with HEVC suggests otherwise.

Re: Corel Video Studio Ultimate 2019 and HEVC encoded files
Hi
Yet I have a bog standard pc see profile to right, with HEVC Video Extensions free from Microsoft and I am able to create and edit H265
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/p/hevc- ... verviewtab
I did have problems with 2018 that only rendered if using Same as Project, that worked yet choosing a H265 profile gave the error that my pc was not up to the job.
Now it renders ok and no change to the pc?

"HEVC Video Extensions from the Device Manufacturer
Play High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) videos in any video app on your Windows 10 device. These extensions are designed to take advantage of hardware capabilities on some newer devices—including those with an Intel 7th Generation Core processor and newer GPU to support 4K and Ultra HD content. For devices that don’t have hardware support for HEVC videos, software support is provided, but the playback experience might vary based on the video resolution and PC performance. These extensions also let you encode HEVC content on devices that don’t have a hardware-based video encoder.

Re: Corel Video Studio Ultimate 2019 and HEVC encoded files
My problem is that I when insert a HEVC/H.265 4k video clip into the timeline, it all appears black in both VS 2018 and 2019. I get no message asking if I want the Project Properties to match those of the video. The Properties show that it is indeed a H.265 4K video (or indeed any other HEVC video). When I go to Share, I can only use "Same as project settings" and those show HD H.264. Same as First Video is not active. And as I have said many times before, I cannot choose HEVC as it tells me my hardware is not suitable. (That is not the case with Movie Studio Pro or Cyberlink Power Director.)
I am not sure, Trevor, why you highlighted that segment of the extract from the MS explanation of the HEVC extension.

Re: Corel Video Studio Ultimate 2019 and HEVC encoded files
Hi Ken
There has been many a discussion regarding computers needing the correct hardware to deal with HEVC
Microsoft says
"For devices that don’t have hardware support for HEVC videos, software support is provided."
I take that to mean I may not need the hardware at the risk of poor playback and rendering.
I do not think my computer does comply with the hardware recommendations, yet I can play and render to H265

As I said before: "It depends on your video card." It works fine with my Geforce GT 1030 but, not with my GTX 970M.

Re: Corel Video Studio Ultimate 2019 and HEVC encoded files
Well pepegota, I am interpreting your "it" to mean Video Studio since Movie Studio Platinum and Power Director obviously enough like my graphics card well enough to edit and produce HEVC...
Thanks Trevor -- that's interesting to think that one can still potentially produce HEVC with the MS extension loaded on not fully HEVC compliant machines -- though again, it doesn't work on my machine with VS. And Intel says my machine *is* fully compliant anyway...

Re: Corel Video Studio Ultimate 2019 and HEVC encoded files
Yes it is i7, and Vegas MS15 renders HEVC very fast with RX 580 using VCE extensions! But edit in Vegas MS15 is very slow as it uses CPU during productionKen Berry wrote:Can we assume you have added the Microsoft HEVC extension to your computer?

So seems like software support that VSU2019 uses in broken or not working, because it working in other programs - I assume this is VSU2019 problem
