Can't Get Text on a Curve

Hi,
I currently have Paint Shop Pro Ultimate 2019, having upgraded from my dinosaur Paint Shop Pro X2. I'm trying to get text on a curve or ellipse, which used to be as easy as drawing an ellipse and clicking the text icon and aligning the cursor near the curve of the ellipse. Now, nothing happens when I do so.

I watched a tutorial on a different method of creating an ellipse and the text on separate layers, clicking shift while clicking both, and fitting the text to the path of the ellipse. That however, isn't working, because the fit text to a path option is grayed out and unclickable from the drop down when I try to attempt this method.

Any ideas on where I'm going wrong here? Thanks for your help!

Your ellipse should be left as a vector .
Then you need to decide if you want your text attached to the ellipse layer or on a separate layer.
If on a separate layer then select the bottom background raster layer again and then with text tool chosen move the cursor to the edge of the ellipse until it becomes a T with a curve under it, click and type your text and it will follow the curve of the ellipse but on its own text layer.

Thanks! That worked perfectly. I think PSP X2 must have automatically checked the vector box when creating an ellipse and I just never noticed it. Much appreciated.
