Inserting video over audio

Post by Al Marotta »

Hi Everyone,

I have what is a simple but vexing problem. I've scoured the instruction booklet and cannot find a solution. At the point where two clips join, I want to insert a video clip of say, five seconds, with three seconds covering (removing, actually) the video of the left clip and removing 2 seconds of the right clip. I want the audio from both original clips to remain, with no sound coming from the inserted clip. I'm used to iMovie (I use VSP 10) where you would copy the five second insert on the preview window and then just paste it right where the left scene and right scene were joined and the program would remove the audio from just the five seconds of the inserted clip and pop it into the audio track so there was continuity of sound where the inserted clip is playing. Can this be done on VSP?

Thank you,
Al Marotta

You could try, right click on the clip in the timeline, select "Split Audio" this will move the audio to the audio track, move the split audio out of the way, insert your new clip, then move the audio back to original positions

I would put the inserted clip in an overlay track - (without touching the top track at all ) then right click on it - choose "mute" and then just slide it left / right until it was in exactly the position I wanted
