PSP 2019 versions ?

Post by Jean-Luc »

In Help / About, the version is 21.1.0.22
In Windows Explorer, the version is displayed 21.0.0.1

CCleaner says there is a new version but unable to install Update 1 because PSP says "already installed".

If Help>About shows version 21.1.0.22 then you do have the latest (and only) update that has been released for PSP 2019, which is why you would be unable to install it again. I don't know why Windows Explorer doesn't show the update version, but that could be something to do with the update installer simply not updating the proper registry entry with the new version number. And of course CCleaner will read the version number as it is shown in the registry, so that will indicate that there is a new update available when, in fact, you already have that update installed.

This was asked in the French Forum when someone tried to install the HotFix (published 23rd of January). He was confused...
The Update 1 should have corrected the version number...

I wonder where in the Registry it is.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

You should be able to find it if you open the Registry Editor, then click on the arrow to open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder, then right-click on the SOFTWARE folder that's within it and click the Find option in the context menu that opens. Type 21.0.0.1 in the search box and it will search for that string and show you the first path it finds. Hitting F3 after that will search for the string in other locations further down the tree.

There are two version info in EXEs/DLLs etc. in Windows:
1. File version
2. Product version

..It can differ, is can be the same, or one usually "File version" is not set. 8)

The correct version is displayed within the app.
But when using CCleaner and searching for program udpates, CCcleaner says "A new version exists for PSP".
Following this suggestion, it is not possible to install the new version (PSP says "already installed"). This produces confusion ... :?
