Install VS7 and how to search for a sentence

I tried searching for my question but cannot work out how to search for a sentence. I tried entering "install VS7" but it returned posts containg just "VS7" or "install".
Anyway my question is this
Is there a special method required to install VS7. I have tried and it copies the setup files to the location I chose but will not proceed from there. I then tried running SETUP from the location where those setup files were copied but it won't work. Also tried 'run as administrator still no go.
Yes lots of new versions since then but it is for VS7 64 bit version and I have no interest in buying a later version.

The master of installations is Trevor, but what you do is just right, running that 64b setup.exe.

If you had few faults than may be a cleanup is in order

My own thought on the matter is that you are trying to install only part of the full X7. The part you named above has "Bonus" in it, and suggests to me that it is only one part of the overall package. It would naturally not install X7 and would be looking for X7 before it call install the Bonus features...

Thabks for your reply.
I ran the VS7 cleanup program but I am not sure if it did anything as it displayed that it was removing what looked like (window) registry entries and when I ran it again (I did this after I had previously done all you suggested) it displayed what seemed to be the same registry entries.
Anyway I have done this a few times and always the same result - when I run the setup from the setup files folder it results in -

I agree with what Ken and so tried something different.
Starting with the Beta testing installtion disk I left the username with what it defaults to (my name) and entered the serial number which I was given after the end of beta testing and it is installing now.
All seems to be ok now. Thanks

John - you will get a better search result if you use the "Advanced Search" option - that allows you to be a bit more specific about what you are looking for - in the top right corner of the forum index page click on the words 'Advanced Search' just under the general search box

From reading your replies X7 is installed on your system

A windows 7 update in February 2016 left all Corel Video Studio programs inoperative.
Corel have provided fixes for some versions including X7
This should be installed immediately after installing the program

In the days of X7 Ultimate, it was distributed as several self-extracting files. I made a back-up copy of my files, and added the license key in a notepad file, all burned to a DVD. So the contents of my X7 backup disk look like this:

Assuming you have kept your license key separately but available, installing X7 Ultimate should go like this:
- create your program folder (where the application will be installed)
- make sure any prior X7 components, including trial versions, have been properly un-installed and removed, and the registry cleaned up (lots of residual entries deleted).
- locate the distribution files, and execute (double click it) the PF one: this should be the main program and normal contents. When the executable opens, it will ask you for 1) the license key (cut n paste or type it all in); 2) the country you are in (if you just click this it defaults to USA and the display system is NTSC, and no way to change that except by re-installing, so make sure you choose this correctly; OR choose the display system - NTSC or PAL); and 3) where you want the application installed (drive and folder need to be input. Again, the default is available and on the C drive). Once this is done, the install proceeds and can take quite a while, if memory serves. It also includes a number of microsoft re-distributables. There's a progress bar on the install panel of sorts with whats being done.
- Once installed and exited, install the hotfix that enables VS X7 to run after MS changed windows (mentioned by trevor in a prior post).
- try to start the program by clicking the icon that should now be on your desktop.
- locate the bonus extractable file and double click it, and it will install all the ultimate components. Again, may take a while.

From memory, the install may take about 30 minutes to do.

Lastly, given all this works, locate the service packs (more self-extracting files) and install those.

Thanks heaps David. That saved me some time as I may have chosen a different place to apply the hotfix.
It is now installed and working
