Videostudio 2019 - sound problems

Post by simon_roberts »

This morning I made the plunge and upgraded from Videostudio X6 Pro to the 2019 Ultimate version, nothing wrong with the old version it did everything I needed it to do, apart from editing the 4K video files which I've also just ventured into.

So paid for the new software, downloaded and installed fine. I've tried importing video files into the software this afternoon to find that it won't play the sound. I contacted Corel and their support systems were less than useful, the file that I'm trying to play is a .MTS file, the file plays (with sound) perfectly in the old version of Videostudio, Movie Player, VLC etc. I'm using Windows 7 as the OS.

Is anyone else having this trouble and found a solution?

Thanks,
Simon

Hi Simon
and welcome to the forums
Not good news i am afraid

Unfortunately Corel Video Studio 2019 no longer support Digital Dolby audio when running Windows 7
It’s a disgrace that Corel Support did not explain their policy regarding Digital Dolby and Windows 7

So if your MTS files use Digital Dolby then you are back to silent movie days.
Using Windows 10 and Digital Dolby is supported but limited to stereo, no surround sound

Seems wrong that they do not support at least playback even if they remove the render options for Digital Dolby

Hello - Looks like an older thread but hopefully somebody will see this. lol

Regarding the .mts issue - I juist installed vs 2019 and found out my .mts files don't have audio. I've got a bunch and I mean a bunch of footage with .mts where the audio won't play.

So I stumbled on this thread and was wondering if there is a way to convert the footage so I can use it in VS?? Or am I back to another video editor. It would be a shame because so far VS looks great. (just doesn't sound that good. hahahaha)

Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!

There are many video-converters available but I'd suggest that you have a look at the freely available HandBrake and try it's Audio Mixdown feature.

It sounds to me as though you may have Dolby audio on the video. If so, then for some incredibly strange reason, Corel have dropped Dolby for those using Win 7, which I see you are. So yes, you will need to convert and Handbrake is a good choice... Set it for AAC audio or standard though larger LPCM audio.
