This topic came up in class today, and I'd like some input from anyone who may have used comments in a project.
In the context of several "authors" for a project, comments can be used to indicate to the other person what might be relevant or action at a particular point, similar to those used in document drafts (such as science papers, books and so on) being swapped between authors using word processors. The user guide for VS2019 (and X7 thru 2018 before it) indicates (2019, p47) that comments can be placed on the timeline in association with cue points, but there is no further discussion of how that can be done. If comments can be placed in the timeline using cue points, I would expect that a particular cue point would have some sort of message box associated with it, but there is nothing evident.
Any suggestions?

Re: Comments in a project
User Guide states P47
“Adding cues and chapters helps you to navigate through a project and allows you to place comments on your Timeline.”
The guide does seem a little ambiguous, as Asik’s comment changing the name will show as a “tool tip” when floating the mouse over the cue / chapter point
You could argue that’s Placing a comment on the Timelines

Re: Comments in a project
I'm fine with using rename to provide the comment. Changing the name of a cue point to something like "add your action stuff here" works, but that approach takes simplicity to ridiculous levels.
But on my simple test, using cue points:
- changed the clour of the triangle symbol
- cue point insertion always occurred at the start of the vsp, not where the timeline marker was, and could not be dragged. and
- even with a new 'name' there was no matching named tool tip - just the time, which was clear from position in the timeline.
But overall this method leaves a lot to be desired. Changing the cue symbol to indicate a note has been inserted,m and given that, for the tool tip to be the name or note that went with the comment, and an ability for that note to allow some ability 'discuss' a suggested action more preferable - maybe character limited, eg no more than 160, that number nominally allowed in a mobile phone text.

Re: Comments in a project
Cue points can be placed anywhere along the timeline, I have no problems doing that.
Float the mouse over the Cue Point till curser shows black triangle
Double click should allow to rename
Drag the Cue marker along to re-position or drag down to remove
