You may accomplish your goal with a simulated fill-in flash. The tools may be Menu > Adjust > Fill flash... and Menu > Brightness and Contrast > Fill Light/Clarity.pstein wrote:Thank you so far for the suggestions.
However all together your solutions try to modify the images completely.
I want to avoid this.
What I am searching for is a way to select only a contiguous area whose pixels are darker than a certain degree of "blackness".
This found selection should not contain small areas at the top of the sample pictures but start from a (clicked ?) point at the bottom of the image.
Once I have this selection I can apply brightness (and other modifications) independently from the remaining part.
How can I achieve this selection?
Thank you
Also, there is this from the Help file:
I have not tried that one.Help wrote:Applying a color or transparency gradient with the Gradient Fill tool
The Gradient Fill tool lets you interactively apply a gradient to the canvas, a selection, or shape. You can adjust the colors, gradation, and transparency, as well as the direction, directly in the image window.
By default, the Gradient Fill tool applies the last gradient selected in the Material Properties > Gradient page, and modifies it with the current settings in the Tool Options palette.
You can adjust the overall transparency of a color gradient by creating the gradient on a new layer and adjusting the transparency of the layer. For more information, see Setting layer opacity.
You can adjust the transparency of individual nodes (opacity stops)
