VIMEO download into videostudio? mp4
I have downloaded from Vimeo a link to a video - its a good couple of hours long - it appears to be in MP4. It plays fine on my PC. I would like to transfer it into videostudio so i can edit it slightly...at least cutting it in half so i can save to dvd ( its my childs concert/play which was 'professionally' recorded ( i could of done a better job however i digress ) but chose to go for the digital download, i think HD 720 quality.
BUT - when i simply drag it into videostudio /or insert - it appears as a simple 'white screen' lasting only 30seconds or so.?? The video starts at a white screen. SO - whats going on?
I tried to 'capture' the video and bring it in...but it does not appear when I use 'import digital media'.
SO - any the wiser? Do i need to 'convert it somehow? strange?

Re: VIMEO download into videostudio? mp4
Converting it would probably work. But before you do so, can you use a program like Media Info to find out the exact properties of the video. That would help us make some sensible suggestions.

Re: VIMEO download into videostudio? mp4
Ok Ken, as per the norm thank you for the reply and as usual things get complicated!!!
I did as you say, so...Dr whats the verdict?
If I go back to 'simply' converting it...I would like to retain as best as possible the quality - any free converter out there? I would of thought simple enough to simply insert mp4 into VS afterall it was only last week I messed about with green screen and took advice..to render it ( mp4 ) and then I can alter the colour etc...which worked great...So - why can I not even upload this mp4>?

Re: VIMEO download into videostudio? mp4
All that I can get out of that gobbledegook is that the video is indeed mp4 at 1280 x 720 at 50P and with stereo audio at 48000. Normally I would say there is no reason why Video Studio would not accept it. However, I cannot find what codec was used to produce the video. So yes, please repost the MediaInfo output in tree format...
And yes, there are plenty of free converters out there. Currently I use Handbrake, though also use Format Factory. If you go with the latter, just be careful in the installation to read every page to make it does not install unwanted other programs.

Ok thanks. Getting to complicated the whole tree thing.
Will try one of those converters you kindly recommended.

Re: VIMEO download into videostudio? mp4
For the love of God! why is NOTHING simple with this!!!
Handbrake - so many options? Why would I want to convert from MP4 - surely to goodness videostudio allows me to import this videofile without all this nonsense and possible lower quality output!!
Why when I bring this mp4 into VS does only a couple of seconds white screen appear in VS? and not the full h1 15min or so file?
No need to reply unless an obvious answer. Just having a rant!

Need to back up a little. During your download attempt:
> Is this your Vimeo account and your video loaded to your account? If your account, is it a free account or one of the upgraded?
> If someone elses account, did they set the video to allow visitor downloading?

Re: VIMEO download into videostudio? mp4
Nothing complicated about getting the video properties using MedaiInfogarjobo123 wrote:Ok thanks. Getting to complicated the whole tree thing.
Will try one of those converters you kindly recommended.
1-launch MediaInfo
2-use File/Open to select and load your Video file
3-select File/Export
4-Select Text
5-create the desired filename and location
6-click Ok
7-attach the created textfile to your post or copy & paste the text from that file into your post
That will give us the video properties and not that stuff you posted

Re: VIMEO download into videostudio? mp4
As for the video converter, you put in *your* mp4 and set the converter to high quality mp4 output. That will produce a new mp4 using a different codec and which VS will be able to "see"...
