problem playing DVD menus

I'm using VideoStudeo 8 and have had a problem playing DVDs with menus. Using the playback on PowerDVD on my Dell laptop, the player doesnot play the menu correctly, with the menu showing for half a second then the player stops and will not restart.

If I open the DVD and look at the files, there are 2 file in the Video_TA folder, VIDEO_TS.VOB (menu) and VTS_01_1.VOB9video) if I open the VTS_01_1.VOB file then It plays fine, its just auto play and the menu that will not work.

The DVD plays fine on a domestic Panasonic DVD recorder/player.

Is it a PowerDVD fault or am I doing someting wrong?

Hi,

In my older version of PowerDVD (PowerDVD XP version 4.0)

-Start up PowerDVD
-Hit CTL+O (O for Open)
-select "Open DVD File on Hard Disk Drive"
-browse to that VIDEO_TS folder, then select the file named VIDEO_TS.IFO
