Videostudio will not start after Windows update
Yesterday I allowed the following Windows 10 update - - Feature update to Windows 10, version 1903 for May 2019
today none of the versions of Videostudio installed on my computer will start - I have X10 , VS2018 and VS2019 which were all usable before this update - In every case the splash screen shows and remains for well over 1 minute before suddenly vanishing - following that Task Manager does not show any incidences of VideoStudio running
I tried a complete un-install and then a new download and install of 2019 - no change it still will not start
any other suggestions
Incidentally this was the worst ever update to Window 10 in total it took around 10 hours - download was reasonably quick but then it took around 4 hours "installing" - after it had completed I had the usual message that a restart was required to complete the installation - I allowed the restart which took 5 hours of advancing 1% at a time with a multitude of shut downs (warned by the restart screen to expect them )
thats knackered me for using Videostudio - maybe time for a change

Re: Videostudio will not start after Windows update
Hi
That update on my pc failed to install on 7/6/2019, no idea why but has not tried to install again?
I have to say I had not run the pc in 7 weeks and there were a few small updates that installed ok
Earlier there was a problem starting 2018 / X10 with a hot fix by Corel, you could try applying that.
Not sure about 2019???

You should also contact Corel support informing them of your problem
Although you are the first to report this problem and if it is just windows updates then I would expect more complaints?
Asik, your comments really did not help.

Re: Videostudio will not start after Windows update
Thank you Trevor - the hotfix seems to have worked with VS2018 and VS2019 so I can continue for the time being

Re: Videostudio will not start after Windows update
FWIW I have updated 6 computers to Win 10 version 1903 in recent days. All worked just fine. Each of those computers has various versions of VS up to and including VS 2019, and all of those versions continued to work after the update. Moreover, the update installed without problems, though at varying speeds depending on how old the computer was. It took between 2 and 4 hours, depending on the computer.
A seventh computer would not accept the update, saying it did not have the right hardware. Since it already had Win 10 version 1809, I am still looking into that one.

Re: Videostudio will not start after Windows update
All very strange - this laptop is only 3 years old and has an i7 chip so not exactly old - every thing seems to be normal - no other programmes seem to be affected at all - but at least VS is now working again so all is good

This hot fix (replacing iEncoder.dll) solved the no-start / hung splash screen problem for me with X9 Ultimate editionlata wrote:

Re: Videostudio will not start after Windows update
Don't ask my to explain but:....
The above mentioned file replacement did not help. I still could not start v2019. So I decided it would be better to have v2018 working without the updated features in v2019. I reinstalled v2018. All seemed to work well with that. I then, on a lark, decided to unintall and reinstall v2019 and now v2019 works fine. Tried many times loading it and all appears fine.
Also: I noticed that in the v2018 the prodad adorage missing transitions (another thread) were 'back'. So, again on a lark, I checked out v2019 and, lo and behold, the missing adorage transitions were back.
It just seemed v2019 'corrected itself' when I reinstalled v2018. I will just let v2018 sit on my computer and continue to use v2019. But I cannot explain all this.
Barry
BTW: Prodad stopped communications with me on the missing adorage transitions when they could not figure it out.

Re: Videostudio will not start after Windows update
My VS v2018 is failing to start, and has NO splash screen, after the Windows 10 1903 update. At least I was not part way through working on a major project. On the same computer I also have X9 which is still working OK. I tried the hot fix mentioned above, but it did not fix it. I was also hoping that the Win 10 monthly update may have fixed it, but it did not. Will try an uninstall of v2018 , then a download and reinstall, to see if that fixes it, hoping I don't lose any anything in the process.
Edit - Uninstalling, selecting to keep my settings, downloading and reinstalling has fixed the problem. Its odd that after Win 10 update 1903 others had a similar problem, but with the splash screen showing, and I did not have that. Anyway its working now. Its great to have this forum to see what others have tried for similar issues.
