I am using VS Pro X9 for video editing.
I know that video editing does take up a lot of OS resources (Win 7 Pro in my case)
I currently have 8 Gig of RAM; would upping that to 16 Gig be beneficial?
Thanks for any responses!

You can monitor your RAM with many tools and see if you need any.
Do you do 6 tracks of 4K ?
My 8G serve me well for my HD , VS isn't an economical software.

As in video tracks. More concurrent vid tracks eats more memory...or so I understand.DayO wrote:Not sure what you mean by "6 tracks," sorry.

Thanks. I suspected "video tracks," but just wasn't sure.
I rarely have more than four tracks in use during editing.
And some research on my part now reveals that faster and larger RAM can indeed
enhance the editing process.

Re: Will Added RAM Help with Video Editing?
According to Corel, the minimum System Requirements for RAM in X9 are: 2 GB of RAM or higher, minimum 4 GB for Windows 64-bit, 8+GB highly recommended for UHD or Multi-Camera editing.DayO wrote:I am using VS Pro X9 for video editing ... You should check memory utilization during your editing and rendering to see how much RAM including paging file is being utilized by X9. That being said, 16GB is a good size if you're using the computer to simultaneously run VS and other apps, e.g. browser.

Thanks. Am planning to upgrade from 8 Gig RAM to 16 Gig, speed 1600, dual channel, this week.
What's the best way to check memory utilization during video editing?
