Video Studio 2019 4k Burning to BluRay

Post by daveRolph »

Can anyone help me please.

I have a 4K TV and tried with 4K editing before and had lots of issues, now after a bit of googling, upgrading VS, paying for a new Codec and re-purchasing the BlyRay Authoring I am ready to try again.

With Smart proxy I am getting a better editing experience but now I have tried to write to BluRay and I can only chose 1920 X 1080 as the Max resolution ?

Please tell me I haven't wasted my money, I have spent all morning trying to get myself set back up.

One additional question, will I be able to install the same license for VS & The Codec on my laptop for when I work away ?

Hi Dave
And welcome to the forums
I do not have the Blu-Ray plugin to check this but as far as I know Video Studio 2019 still only supports 1920 x 1080 frame size for Blu-ray.
There is also the Video Studio MyDVD which has received an update for 2019 but again I do not think supports 4k although I cannot check that.
To receive the official reply on Blu-ray policy you should contact Corel Support.

Many VS users now render to 4K video file to playback using USB memory sticks rather than burning discs, that goes for any disc types, I have not burnt a disc in a while.
I am intending to purchase an external hard drive, passport etc to save and play my video files on my tv.

Oh
Bluray playback, does your Bluray player connected to TV support 4K video?

Installing VideoStudio on two computers
The EULA indicates that Video Studio can only be installed on one computer, although if that computer is faulty then can be installed on another pc.
You do get a warning when installing 2019 again, but entering your e-mail address allows the install / download to continue.
Other Corel software do allow installing on more than one machine ( I think 3) but only run one at a time.
Like all official documents the EULA is not easy to understand.

Trevor -- I'm pretty sure that you can burn a 4K Blu-Ray disc. Only VS cannot do it... and of course you have to have a burner capable of it.

I also have the Blu-Ray burner module for VS 2019...

Not so quickly Ken,
I did some googling and all I found that even high end Blu-Rays burners can only playback 4K disks,
non I found that lists it can burn them.

Well if you google further deeply...
"UHDBD playback supported"

I don't see any UHDBD burning...

Thanks for the replies, My BluRay player is a couple of years old so I guess I know the answer.

Perhaps one day then !

IN the meantime I have been playing with the new version and getting more problems than I used to, I guess I will be coming back to the forum quite soon,

Well look at this, its almost exactly a year since ai last asked this question.

So I thinj I have found a 4K Writter, does anyone know if there has been any changes in the software to write 4K Blu Ray ?

Would you agree this should now be possible ?

Hi Dave
I don’t think the problem was with the hardware but VS capability of burning Bluray 4k
The program also had problems burning video using 24fps.
I have just looked at 2020 authoring and it does appear to have been updated in that 4K options are available as conversion options.
I would have to do tests to burn a Bluray folder to see how the program performs, setting project properties etc.
I have not burnt a disc in a long time never mind 4K.
I do not recall anyone mentioning that the program now supports 4K Bluray but clearly something has changed.

Have you checked 2019 options?

I am afraid I have a reply from Corel and this was the reply.
Sorry to say this that latest version provide support to 4k file but it has no support for 4k burning.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions.
Obviously I do still have questions !

Seems like a common issue, does anyone have any suggestions ? Basically I create a Blu Ray at the end of every year and share copies with my Family, I have been using 4K Camera's for a while now and with a 4K TV it just seems such a waste not to be able to burn to 4K, I do not want to mess around with USB Sticks, streaming or plugging Laptop in, I want to make movies that the family can keep and watch again in years to come.

Hi
A little confused with Corels responce as something has changed, Video Studios burner module now shows 4K Bluray profiles -- as my image
Have you tried to create as a short test a Bluray folder or Bluray Image, you can then check the files in the stream folder to make sure they are 4K.
I do recall running short tests, the only problem i had was being forced to render in the burner module, the process did not recognise compliant video files.

If the files are 4K and I have no reason to think otherwise you can burn the folder to disc.
My DVD is another option although I have not tested that for 4K, but again that module has had recent updates.??

Not on my pc, later I will check 4K burning processes again.
