Export project to project possible solution

Post by Al Marotta »

Hi Everyone,
With the help of asik and Ken Berry I came to what was for me a satisfactory solution to the issue of exporting clips from one project to another. It's been requested that I post on this forum in order to help other people who might have the same problem. What I wanted to do was export a string of edited clips from one project to another. I did not want to export every clip in the project, just an edited segment( although I presume you can export and entire project using the steps I've indicated below). Keep in mind, you don't get separate clips in this exporting process, just one clip of your edited, string of clips, stuff. This is in vsp 10

1)In the project you want to export from, using your trim markers, mark out the segment of clips you want to export.

2)Go to share and click create preview range and enable smart rendering (I confess I have no idea whether enabling smart rendering is vital to thisprocess--I just clicked it and it worked).

3)Give your file name hopefully a distinct name so you'll recognize the clip.

4)Click the button that gets the rendering going (I have a memory like a sieve and can't remember its name--it's on the right I think at the bottom.

5)When the rendering (or whatever it is that is going on) is complete, open up the project you want to export TO. Then, in the folders file---that vertical thing down the middle, click on the folder that carries the clips for the project you were exporting FROM, and at the bottom of the clips pane you should see a clip that contains, condensed into just this one clip, named by you in the rendering process, the segment of clips you wanted to export. I found that if I dragged this clip to storyboard in the project you want to export to, it will stay in the library of that exported to project.

Just a repeat warning that you don't get a string of clips from this export, just one clip covering all the video you marked out with your markers, which is all I wanted.I hate giving out misleading info so I hope someone will try this out and get back to me if it doesn't work for them.
