Corel Video Studio and Pinnacle Studio

Post by Phil47 »

As Corel owns both Corel Video Studio and Pinnacle Studio may I ask are the two systems basically the same?
I have just downloaded the TRIAL version of Pinnacle Studio 22 and as I went to download the Corel Video Studio I see that the form for filling in your details is identical.
Is there any advice you can give me please?

For years I have used PowerDirector and now have PD14 which is a few versions behind the latest PD17.
I am thinking of upgrading.
However, there is one gripe I have with PD14 and that is that the FlipII transition is as thick as a brick paver! Not cool. Looks amateurish! Not at all like the Superman movie where the criminals are sent into outer space on a spinning/flipping flat rectange!
This FlipII transition can also be modified to do a Heads of Tails flip/spin and if inserted on a track it shows the same video continuing on both sides A and B - a very good effect IMHO.
I have asked on the Cyberlink forum and been told that the thickness has not changed up to PD17.
I have asked on the Pinnacle forum and been told that something similar can be created by doing this and that.
My own checking of the available transitions on my Pinnacle TRIAL version doesn't even have this one available! Not impressed!
Yes, it has lots and lots of other transitions of course.
Is there anything you can tell me about this FLIP transition in Corel VideoStudio please?

Thanks,
Phil.

The first answer is simple, no they are not same software in their basic philosophy.
The second is more complex as I don't know what sort of flip you are after, a demo off YT can help.
Both Corel Video Studio and Pinnacle Studio can flip a lot, if you are looking into "one click do phill's thing" it might not be the case.

Thanks for the first part answered.

Regarding the Flip transitions here is a YouTube video that explains it all. The 4th one is the particular one in question. Flip II: Heads or Tails.

Well, back in the 90's we called it a slab transition and in 30 years I can tell you I never used it.
Video studio has it with limited controls.

I cant find similar in Pinnacle Studio but, I hardly know it.
