Using Videostudio 2019 Ultimate and really struggling with controlling audio on both video clips and audio clips ...... which probably means I'm doing something wrong.
If I select a clip and access Audio Properties, I see the Audio Volume control but if I reduce it from 100%, even right down to 5%, I can hear absolutely no difference in the end result. Equally, the Fade In / Fade Out options on audio clips appears to do nothing, as in selecting those options has no obvious impact on the clip.
What am I doing wrong here ?!!!

Re: Struggling with Audio Volume
Nothing, just Corel has little knowledge about the audio signals. 5% reduction in audio means almost nothing. The audio level is usually measured in dB ( decibels) and the human ear usually recognizes only changes over 3 dB, while 6 dB is equal to 50% reduction ( ie half of the original level). That is why the audio reduction in percentage is fully unusable in audio world. The sound dynamic what we recognize is over 60 dB, what cannot be easily expressed in %!Paul33 wrote:Using Videostudio 2019 Ultimate and really struggling with controlling audio on both video clips and audio clips ...... which probably means I'm doing something wrong.

(It is only 1/1000 of the original level, ie it would be 0,1% and the change is nonlinear)
That means the smallest real audible change in level start at 30% reduction. (70% of original level).

Re: Struggling with Audio Volume
Sorry, I meant I reduced volume from 100% to 5% thus reducing it by 95% and it makes no difference. I had VideoStudio X10 up until a week ago and that was the same. Volume Reduction, Fade In, Fade Out all made/make no difference at all.

Re: Struggling with Audio Volume
changes to the audio levels are only apparent when you play it is 'project' mode - do you change to project mode to test it - clip mode does just that - plays the original clip unmodified

Re: Struggling with Audio Volume
Sometimes happened also something similar to me, only the rubber bands had real effect on the audio level, the settings in the properties or the fader did not. I reported it to Corel but I could not repeat the effect when the wanted to see it on my computer.Paul33 wrote:Sorry, I meant I reduced volume from 100% to 5% thus reducing it by 95% and it makes no difference. Today I have got the same issue. The fade out or the level change did nit work from the audio properties. I could modify the level only in audio mode ( when you see the audio envelope and teh ribbon trace) with the mouse I could change the ribbon trace. For the fade out I hade to zoom in the time line to maximum otherwise the ribbon level could not locked to the end of the clip. Ie the level dropped but before the clipend it rised back to original volume. Only in maximum zoom on the timeline I was able to create a correct fade-out.
Interestingky after the VS2018 restart the problem dissapeared and the VS accepted the level adjustment and also the fade out button.

Re: Struggling with Audio Volume
Rammed the "Rubber Bands" to the floor also dropped volume via the mixer which reduces volume when I'm initially doing that but, on playback, the volume is still unchanged !weaver wrote:Sometimes happened also something similar to me, only the rubber bands had real effect on the audio level, the settings in the properties or the fader did not.
